1. What's it take to get some fresh faces in here? A good percentage of the Mods aren't here all the time, and as a result you miss out on a lot of the BS that goes on. There are people here who visit on odd schedules, who are more than willing to help moderate. The load needs to be shared a lot better than it is, and to do that you need more people to cover.2. Can we get rid of the dead weight mods? I love Cassie, but she doesn't post regularly - actually 6 times since April, and only 15 times so far in 2008. Maverick, Bartleby, JAllen, CrazyJ for Christ's sake - same thing. You can't be a moderator here if you're not even here. I understand people are going to grow up, grow out, move on, whatever, but there needs to be a system in place to identify reliable users who are mature enough to handle moderating a message board. See my #1.3. Can we get rid of the "Mods can only Moderate their own section" bullshit? It's a holdover from the days when CrazyJ would arbitrarily pick users to be mods, and invariably would pick some cum gargler who went on crazy suspending sprees for offenses outside of their section. If you pick reliable, responsible people to moderate TWW, and if you're able to recognize that instead of picking jackasses to be mods in the first place, then this ruleset goes away completely.I have no issues with OmarBadu, gunnz, or BobbyD showing their faces in the Garage, TSB, or Chit Chat to bust some heads if the need arises, because they're responsible adults who know what is acceptable and unacceptable behavior. The situation of some dickhole being able to ruin a section just because that section's mods aren't online should never be an issue.4. Can you highlight the process by which a mod is selected now? Before, it was simple. CrazyJ got drunk, CrazyJ picked some random asshole, done. Now, there needs to be a system, and if there is, it needs to be explained. There are people who have been around for years who would gladly moderate who have never once been given any indication of what they had to do.anybody else can feel free to contribute more questions, as long as they're not idiotic.

Stop trying to start an argument, roddy.

I must admit, I do agree with kiljadn

1. Can mods suspend other mods?2. Can I be a mod?

I want to personally thank each and every mod that had anything to do with suspending "team euphalo."

Asking will automatically deny you the opportunity to moderate.

Can we get some Moderator input up in here?I'm kind of tired of you guys ignoring us.
6/28/2008 6:24:57 PM
kiljadn, you have been asking to be a mod for the past 5 years, give it up already......

I posted a thread like this, bitching about the lack of tech talk moderation a few years back, when it was being overrun with euphalo-like shit. Then a few days later, someone noticed my name on the moderator list for tech talk. That's all I know about the process. So maybe we'll see nick on the mod list soon

definitely not the end all be all guide but here's my perspectivefor the past few additions/changes...whenever it's felt one is needed there is a thread in the mod forum - people more or less nominate a few people and then they are discussed - once crazyj in the past or nael now feels good about one of the people discussed they are made a modi never asked to be a mod but i did see my name mentioned in a thread about lounge mods after i was made one

This is a really lame attempt to try to become a moderator.

no, i think Airbag is right.

yeah, kiljadn has been crying to be a mod right when Jake opened it up...and he has been denied...denied.....denied.....this is his latest attempt. [Edited on July 7, 2008 at 1:29 AM. Reason : w]

yeah, i tried once, i'm embarrassed to say. but in my defense, at the time i was underemployed at Microsoft, had a shit ton of time to kill, and was off my meds.i could give two shits about it now. I suppose if someone wanted to make me a mod, i would take it and immediately go and suspend a few fuckwits for general principles, but other than that i wouldn't do too much.
7/7/2008 2:02:14 AM
I agree with kiljadn

I don't have to prove anything to you guys, much less half-brain roddy.I have yet to ask to be a moderator in this thread. I'm just pointing out the need for more, and the fact that there are other people on TWW who would be willing to do it. If I'm included in that subset, so be it. If you're too stupid to see that pointing something out and asking are two different things, then so be it.Jake didnt like me, I accept that. No one's going to like someone who is constantly critical of them.... but the honest truth is this place was going to shit when he was around, too, because he never listened to ANYONE. New owner, new rules, you'd think - but apparently that's not the case and we still have the same culture of indifference.

"The current mods often moderate outside their section if the situation calls for it."So explain why it took so long for someone to do something about the Euphalo nonsense?I'm not trying to be antagonistic, but if you guys can moderate outside of your sections, obviously some of you weren't aware of it. Either that, or no one cared. Either way, it lends creedence to my arguement that there need to be more people who give a shit running the show. Maybe that's not your responsibility as a mod - maybe it falls directly on nael, but the point still stands.

7/7/2008 1:47:10 PM
are you preggers or really fat, tww?All I'm pointing out is that we're seeing the same sort of behavior under nael as we saw under Jake. If TWW is trying to turn over a new leaf, like everyone keeps insisting, then there needs to be behavior correction. Adding new features is great. Keeping the same shitty moderation methods and deadbeat users around is not. If the only thing a user has to contribute is some animated gif of a fucked up Mickey Mouse rolling around on the ground, it shouldn't take 6 months to fucking suspend them.TWW is a pile of shit, I've long maintained that. It's up to ownership to take responsibility to make it better (or worse) than it is. I cant count how many times I've seen an edict "come down from on high" and then fall by the wayside a week later.[Edited on July 7, 2008 at 5:55 PM. Reason : .]

^ and i mean, that's essentially what it comes down to. Maybe we don't need new mods, I'll at least concede that. But what our current set of mods needs is clear and concise leadership.MODS: You are allowed to suspend anyone for being a dumbfuck, regardless of section.MODS: You are allowed to do X in case of Y.MODS: You are NOT allowed to do X in case of Z.MODS: You are not doing your job if you allow Z to happen in case of B.You know? And this is not the mod's fault. This should have come from Jake (it didn't), and it now should be coming from nael.At no point should a moderator be surprised about what they can and cannot do on a site they've been personally tasked to take care of. That sort of oversight pretty much builds in and compounds any future failures.
