i think thats the problem. i made sure the disc were burned using AUDIO CD as the profile on my iMac. i even burned a copy on my laptop. still no joy. is there a difference between CD-R and CD-W? let me know if car systems generally do this. Mercedes-Benz - original stereo.

No just keep trying, generally after inserting and removing the CD 300-400 times it'll start working..........keep at it

^if what he said doesn't work I'd consult the Tech Talk forum. This is more up their alley than ours.

My Discovery and my Escalade factory radios won't play CD-RW, just a manufacturer thing I guess, but my 4Runner did.

Both would play most CD-R though.

Yeah, when you burn a single CD-R it will end up reading like a normal CD in most car audio systems without much of an issue. I think it's due to the way they designed CD-RW's to be rewritable that, unless you have a fairly recent, aftermarket stereo installed in a car (maybe 2003+? I don't follow head units much) or unless you have a fairly new car with a newer stereo, it isn't gonna support CD-RW's.I'll google for an answer in a sec...Stolen from the internets:
