I have an HP Pavillion dv1000 series laptop. 14.1inch, 1GB Ram, 1.5 Centrino, XP... Its served me great for the last few years, still works perfectly except I have this slight problem with the keyboard now.

The letter J doesn't work when you push it down, you literally have to keep on tapping it until it decides to show up. I tried using compressed air, even took off the key, cleaned it, and put it back on, but still having that issue.

Is there any easy solution for something like this? Can you even replace a laptop keyboard? (Taking into account if its even worth it to repair something like that?)

yes, keyboards can be replaced, and usually fairly easily

I had something similar to this happen to my old laptop (Dell) keyboard. An entire section of keys just died for whatever reason. Laptop keyboards can be easily replaced as they generally are held in with a few screws from the back. My old Dell had three screws and then you just pried the keyboard off with a screwdriver carefully. There's a ribbon that runs from the keyboard to the motherboard that slides into a slot. It can sometimes come loose so try that first before finding a replacement part.

It's a do-it-yourself job if you are somewhat computer savvy and aren't afraid to f*ck things up.

Like evan said, check ebay for parts.
