My friend and I did this after watching Hulk.1)Batman Begins2)3003)Hulk 24)X-Men 25)The PunisherSecondarily, I would like a healthy discussion on the way they are going about comic movies now. I greatly enjoy the grit and realistic nature of the movies as supposed to the straight adaptations.Perfect example is Hulk 1 vs Hulk 2. Old Batman vs New Batman.I think if they did the next superman dark and gritty it would be equally enjoyable.

i'd have to think about my list. pretty sure punisher wouldn't be on there, perhaps not incredible hulk either. i'd probably move in spider-man 2, blade, or sin city.

I really liked the new Superman movie when I saw it in IMAX, but consensus seems to be that it sucked.

1. Superman I & II2. Batman (1989)3. Hulk (Bixby & Ferrigno)4. Superman (Fleischer)5. Justice League Unlimitedi just want the new Superman to be based on the Alex Ross versionor a Frank Miller Dark Knight that uses the 300/Sin City style
6/19/2008 6:36:14 PM
Blade 2 is up there, but the inconsistency of wtf causes them to be vampires annoys me.
6/19/2008 6:38:40 PM
do you meanmost enjoyable movie based on a comic book?comic book movie that stayed most true to the comic?something else?
6/19/2008 6:54:54 PM
Basically, your top five comic book movies. If you like it because they stayed true, or whateverWould be good to point out if you like the straight adaptations or changes.

1. Superman I & IIsuperman had a heart and a gravity to him that hasn't been seen since...george reeves had the wink, but chris reeve had the smile2. Batman (1989)straight nostalgia and pretty much set the course (with frank miller) for putting batman back on track to the bob kane vision3. Hulk (Bixby & Ferrigno)bill bixby fucking ruled... much like reeve, his character had a soul and a conscience... and ferrigno was an actual human...very frankenstein-esque... no cgi hulk can replicate that yet4. Superman (Fleischer)gorgeous movement and color... a true realization of the WWII-era superman...very flat characters, but the animation and design is still felt in the more modern WB hero animation5. Justice League Unlimiteda slam-bang good time, captures the spirit of the broad characters of the dc universe... john stewart is my all-time favorite green lantern and this series portrays him perfectly...plus the stories weren't dumbed-down like superfriends

6/19/2008 10:46:00 PM
In no particular order:- Batman (Keaton/Nicholson)- Batman Begins- Iron Man- Superman (Reeves/Hackman)Last slot reserved for...- The Punisher War Zone (I'm gonna roll the dice on this one and bank that it follows the Ennis path - aside from Jigsaw, most of the characters in it are coming right out of the MAX books)If I could choose a 6th, it'd be 300.
6/19/2008 11:17:01 PM
chris reeve + contemporary (but not over-abused cgi) sfx = glorious
6/19/2008 11:29:28 PM
this would be hard to pick but theres no way the punisher or 300 would be on my list.

no one ever mentions conan, really underrated movie
6/20/2008 12:18:10 AM
Good point. I LOVE the first one, but detest the second one. For some reason, I've never really considered that a comic book movie.
6/20/2008 12:48:34 AM
that's because Conan was a series of stories and books like 40 years before it was a comic book
6/20/2008 8:47:45 AM
From Hell was a good movie and a good graphic novel. Though the adaptation could have been better.
6/20/2008 9:28:29 AM
My Top 5:1. Superman2. Batman3. X-Men 24. Superman Returns5. Batman BeginsI didn't read the comic, Constantine, but I really enjoyed the movie.I said this before, but it is still pure awesomeness in Superman Returns when you see him save the 747. Listen to the music from the beginning all the way to the end.
6/20/2008 10:37:39 AM
I can only pick the more recent films because I cannot look at the older films and be objective. Its just a different generation of movies and always seem sub-par.
6/20/2008 10:40:47 AM
0) The Watchmen (pending review, but I suspect it to be right up here)1) Batman Begins2) Superman 23) Spiderman4) IronmanAlso, I haven't seen the latest Hulk.

1. Superman II2. Superman (reeves)3. Batman (keaton)4. Spider-Man II5. tie: Dick Tracy / Hellboy

As far as superhero movies go, X2 and spider-man 2 were great because they didn't have to establish a world and could spend all their time on great storytelling.... and then X3 and Spidey 3 suffered from the same overstuffing-full-of-characters and trying to manage too many unassociated or just plain uninteresting storylines that they completely missed what made each "2" an improvement over the first. It wasn't MORE that made them better, it was focus. That gives us all great hope for Batman this summer and the future of the Marvel Studios endeavors ... War Machine already had a nice tip of the hat, Joker doesn't need a 30-minute origin story, we already know that HULK and Nick Fury exist ... etc.My Top 5:- Batman Begins- X2- Road to Perdition- V for Vendetta- Iron Man

Very important conclusion I reached when discussing all these movies.Order of release. X-Men 1, 2 ,3. Then Wolverine and Magneto movies.Order of release.Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Avengers. The avengers movie has great potential to shine because ALL THE OF THE BACK STORY HAS BEEN TOLD by previous movies about the central characters. They already introduced secondary characters and abunch of things they do not need to spend time on. That way they can focus on the story and not introduce characters the entire film.^^ put it this way. I can never have that first screening feeling with the old movies. I never came at them from a direction of analysis and not being a kid that had no idea what I liked.eh, I like the crazy CG[Edited on June 20, 2008 at 4:04 PM. Reason : dasd]
