Are there any places close to state that local and indie bands play at? Places like nightlight in chapel hill and the sort?

the Breweryhttp://www.brewerync.comI wouldn't recommend it, though, unless you like hanging out with high schoolers.

king's used to be good.but these days, pour house, slim's, lincoln theatre (though they rarely have shows that are good), and disco rodeo (though they have a terrible staff and acoustics) will have to do.[Edited on June 13, 2008 at 2:02 AM. Reason : you said local bands]

You can see bands for free at Sadlack's--I can't vouch for their local status one way or the other, though. The last time I was there to see a band some members of the Squirrel Nut Zippers were playing in another group (I forget the name). It was Halloween several years ago. http://sadlacks.blogspot.com/Just for fun. . .http://youtube.com/watch?v=r5dSHFerBV4 [Edited on June 13, 2008 at 3:21 AM. Reason : .]

Vintage21 (V21 Productions) has added more local bands to its upcoming slate of shows. They host everything from screamo-metal to blugrass to hip-hop (that's where Inflowential played their "heading to mtvU show" and Brooks Wood is playing there with Cougar Magnum next month.http://www.v21productions.com
