An Edgar Alan Poe biopic directed by Sylvester Stallone. Great idea or greatest idea?http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0461315/

Greatest idea. I'm a huge Poe fan--I find "The Philosophy of Composition" fascinating. I hope the filmmakers explore this:

i followed this for awhile a few years back and remember Robert Downey Jr. being attached. It seems now that Viggo Mortenson may play Poe. should be interesting. people will doubt Stallone's ability to craft a script to give Poe justice but i say just wait and see. A lot of people have a hard time seperating the man from the characters[Edited on May 29, 2008 at 5:48 PM. Reason : w]

Griswold is going to get his fucking ass kicked so hard in this movie

downey would fit the bill more than viggo, imo. i think stallone can pull it off after seeing the last Rocky. i just don't think he's the meathead that his characters are.

Concerning Stallone, people--particularly young people--often forget that he not only starred in Rocky, he wrote it. The film was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won three.Concerning Downey/Mortensen for the Poe role, I think it's a tossup. Both are fine actors and would bring certain elements to the character. As for physical likeness to Poe, here are some images for comparison--either could pull it off well:
