am i reading this wrong or do you seriously not know how to set-up a personal budget?

Ooh Brier Creek apartments...dare to dream. Buy a damn house from someone with an A.R.M. about to re-adjust. Same monthly payments as a nice apt.

definitely possible

Shouldn't the question really be can you have a decent standard of living in Raleigh if you earn $37,000/year?And yes, you can.[Edited on May 22, 2008 at 10:37 PM. Reason : ...]

Yes. As long as you really mean "decent" and not "fantastically awesome."

I'm thinking of taking a job making about 38k...I figure this is a pretty darn good salary for someone just out of college w/o an engineering or CSC degree...
5/23/2008 9:10:05 AM
$37k is a perfectly fine starting salary for this area. Especially if you're not leaving school with a lot of debt. (But even if you are you can still do fine on that money...)
5/23/2008 9:55:57 AM
Just avoid any kind of debt like the plague. (except for a fixed low rate mortgage of course)
5/23/2008 10:12:14 AM
you'll be fine with that salary. living with roommates helps a lot.
5/23/2008 11:13:43 AM
That's about what I make and you can live decently. You definitely have to budget yourself, especially if you are used to your parents taking care of bills throughout school. Depending on how much you like to go out/go shopping you can put away a hundred bucks or so (at least) a month and live in a nice place.
5/23/2008 1:56:49 PM
Use your salary to pay living expenses, but use unsuspecting guys to pay for food and drinks.
5/23/2008 1:58:37 PM
if you have any debt it might not be easy, but if youre mostly debt free, (minus maybe a car payment and school loans) its perfectly possible.and yeah get a roommate to make it even easier.
5/23/2008 2:04:54 PM
yes
