on a broken light bulb, that's still in the housing, if only the screw cap came off? seems like it'd only work if there's broken glass to grab a hold ofit's a ceiling track light can, and to say it's awkward is putting it lightlyim standing on my kitchen table and can barely reach.poowhat would you do?and yes, im a gay for having track lightingand no, just b/c im an ee doesn't mean i have any experience with this shit, don't be dumb[Edited on May 19, 2008 at 8:09 PM. Reason : i'd have to go to the store to get a potato, so i havent tried it yet]
5/19/2008 8:08:55 PM

5/19/2008 8:15:43 PM

5/19/2008 8:15:46 PM

5/19/2008 8:16:02 PM
needle nose. turn the power off.
5/19/2008 8:16:51 PM
hawanna know what's awesomethe breaker box being unlabeled is awesomeif i wasnt dvr'n shit i'd just start flippin' things
5/19/2008 8:18:01 PM
now that i've done before[Edited on May 19, 2008 at 8:18 PM. Reason : ^^]aha ben, if you can't turn the power off, i'd suggest just waiting on it[Edited on May 19, 2008 at 8:19 PM. Reason : +]
5/19/2008 8:18:29 PM
ok i've got needlenose.gonna go start flippin' circuits and see what happens[Edited on May 19, 2008 at 8:19 PM. Reason : e]
5/19/2008 8:19:09 PM
you can test to see if a circuit is live with a squirt gun
5/19/2008 8:34:30 PM
why flip breakers blindly when you can short the circuit and have it trip for you?also - how in hell did you break a recessed bulb when you can't reach it?
5/19/2008 8:35:00 PM
go borrow a ladder first, jerry is destined to have one and i dont think the potato thing works kiddo (my stapdad says it works only if the potato is soft and you knocked all the glass off first so that its flush with the metal)
5/19/2008 8:36:19 PM
yeah i should have shorted itturns out i flipped the breaker for my tv/cable box and it erased my dvr memory and settingshaanyways, got it fixed, with the breaker off and then needle nose in, expanded as far as possible and turning counter clockwisecrisis averted[Edited on May 19, 2008 at 8:37 PM. Reason : ^^over tightened a very old bulb putting it in][Edited on May 19, 2008 at 8:42 PM. Reason : e]

I've tried this potato theory, didn't work like on tv but it's true it doesn't do anything if the potato's too hard.....It got the glass out for me but I was left with chunks of potato to clean
5/19/2008 8:42:51 PM
it worked when i did it in the past several timesjust make sure its a nice hard tater
5/19/2008 8:49:28 PM
turn the power off to it.
5/19/2008 9:04:49 PM
^^ I would think the hard tater would work if the glass is thicker, but for some of the lighter glass bulbs I think the glass will crumble if it's too hard[Edited on May 19, 2008 at 9:05 PM. Reason : ^^]
5/19/2008 9:05:03 PM
there was no glass
5/19/2008 9:05:56 PM
Just turn the damn switch off. No need to turn off the entire circuit. As long as no one walks into the room while you have your fingers in there and unknowingly turns the power back on.[/retroactive advice]
5/19/2008 10:07:22 PM

5/20/2008 9:48:53 AM
5/20/2008 9:51:39 AM

5/20/2008 9:56:06 AM
^^ yeah i agreef'n comcasteverytime the power goes out i get blanked^yeah of course i did[Edited on May 20, 2008 at 9:59 AM. Reason : e]

I always thought track lighting got a bad rep.
5/20/2008 10:01:20 AM
wow...if only somebody had told you to flip the breaker and gag open a pair of needle nose pliers and twist....at oh, say 7:30....you wouldn't have had to post on tww....man....i wonder where you would find such a person
