uhaul is $30 + $0.89/mile for a 17' truck, and penske is $50 + $0.39/mile for a 16' truck...at about 40 miles, that works out to be $66 regardless of which one i choose...does anyone know of any local, smaller companies that might do this for cheaper?

How long do you need the truck for? Lowes will rent you one for about $20 for a hour and a half. I'm not sure how much the rates go up after that time frame though.

also going to be needing a truck rental in about 2 weeks... im thinking of renting two trucks at the same time though. one 16ft PODS or pack rat box is like $300. Renting two trucks would allow me to get a lot more moving done in a single day...

^you can get an impressive amount of stuff in the 24ft. uhaul trucks if you pack right. plus they've got the cabover and the low deck height. makes a big difference. i'll be happy to point, supervise, and/or drive it.

it'd probably be cheaper to get one of their enclosed trailers for anything left over vs. another truck and the fuel for it...

you might check penske also. i know they rent much bigger trucks, but you may run into cdl issues.

i forgot all about the enclosed trailers, i can put a trailer in the driveway and the truck at the front door and load both at once...

^^^ i totally forgot about enclosed trailers...the gf's rx330 has the class 2 towing package on it (3500lbs, IIRC), so that might be a better idea...thanks!

I owe you guys BIGtime. If I'm in town, consider me in.

I can lift stuff, move stuff, and drink all yer beer.

I'll be sportin' the FJ, no dogs this trip, plenty of room in there.

you can't use account numbers like that on the site, just over the phone. i used SAVE online and it saved me 7/day in rental and .15/mile in charges, thanks to brian's oh so obvious tip
