So I'm almost 100% sure this is software, but I thought I'd ask for a second opinion or 100. I have 20-70 tabs open all the time. It seems like when I get passed a threshold of images on these pages, windows shits every where and I have all kinds of video issues, where windows smear, I can't read pages, basically the screen doesn't update and often I can't get to be able to view anything well again consistantly.

I think I might just be low on video memory, but shouldnt only what's currently being rendered be in video memory? I'm using firefox3 nightly, 7900gs 256mb, 1gb ram, 4400+x2 XP SP3.

You're out of just normal memory.

Buy more.

wouldn't it be nice if they implemented the 'edit title' feature.

ram is dirt cheap these days...sell that 1gb (whether 1 stick or 2 512mb sticks) and get two 1gb sticks for less than $40

yeah, I don't run ddr2. ddr1 still costs an arm and a leg. also, firefox only grabs ~300mb at most with 70 tabs open.

I'd rather run a linux box and xforward to my desktop than buy a new board, chip, and ram

Honestly, I can't imagine that's the case, unless it's not counting what it's paged.
