whenever you look at a white webpage like Yahoo or Google, it lights up the whole room. I feel like I have to wear sunglasses.

So it's only 1080p? Or is it a 1920 by 1200 computer lcd? Shoulda gotten the 30" 2560 by 1600. That thing is a beast.

I've been thinking about a pair of the 1920x1200 24" Samsungs, anyone have experience with those? I've heard the brightness and color aren't all there-- how bad is it really, should be fine if no image processing is involved right?

I was sorely disappointed- I thought this was going to be a profound discussion about routing, bgp, net neutrality, or something of the like.

^I'm not gonna lie- that's pretty pimp.

I've got 2x24",1x30",1x15"macbookpro in Mtn View.
2x24" attached to my ubuntu desktop and the 30" attached to the mbp.
Running parallels between them, makes for a pretty decent setup!

^Meant to say running synergy between them- so once mouse/keyboard controls both machine making for a 4 monitor setup. Not sure why parallels came into mind.

^holy shit. They're totally a rip off of pipeworks by playskool I had them as a kid and you can't find them anywhere.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pipeworks

I knew they'd remake those.

Not really ripoffs as Omagles are tool-less, and have external clips. Pipeworks looks much more like Quadro

And the set I have I bought from Sears Surplus when I was 5 or 6. So they are about the same age.

[sour grapes]You people and your LCD monitors.[/sour grapes]

When I decided that I was going to use my CRT until it kicked the bucket, I didn't quite plan on it lasting this long... (still using the non-flat 19" CRT, Gateway VX900 i.e. Hitachi CM751U that I got freshman year, late 1998...)

There's still merit in using crts. I have a viewsonic flatscreen 19". I know photographers who insist on using them.

I also can't convince my roommate to go widescreen. He still insists 3-4 4:3 19"s are better than 4 16:10 24-30"s for programming. He works at cisco and they just gave him a 22" to use and he likes it. He only likes putting one window per screen though.
