5/11/2008 7:33:11 PM
whenever you look at a white webpage like Yahoo or Google, it lights up the whole room. I feel like I have to wear sunglasses.

5/11/2008 8:50:29 PM

5/11/2008 8:55:57 PM

5/12/2008 3:59:35 AM
I've been thinking about a pair of the 1920x1200 24" Samsungs, anyone have experience with those? I've heard the brightness and color aren't all there-- how bad is it really, should be fine if no image processing is involved right?
5/12/2008 10:11:24 AM
I'll post you a view of the interwebs on my dual 30" displays sometime

I was sorely disappointed- I thought this was going to be a profound discussion about routing, bgp, net neutrality, or something of the like.

dual 30"s is the way to go. My 24" will have to do until i have the $$ to buy a 30".
5/13/2008 12:12:24 AM
5/13/2008 12:21:54 AM
^yeah yeah we know you're the master of multiple monitors. I still don't see any 30"s in there though.
5/13/2008 12:22:53 AM
5/13/2008 12:24:34 AM
it's planned for the end of summer after the 8k camera and 5k video camera, but before the 4k photo printer.
5/13/2008 12:24:35 AM
^^that doesn't look like a work or home desk, that looks like a shared station at work.
5/13/2008 1:49:22 AM
this is my main desk in redmond:

^I'm not gonna lie- that's pretty pimp.I've got 2x24",1x30",1x15"macbookpro in Mtn View.2x24" attached to my ubuntu desktop and the 30" attached to the mbp. Running parallels between them, makes for a pretty decent setup!
5/13/2008 5:07:34 AM
^Meant to say running synergy between them- so once mouse/keyboard controls both machine making for a 4 monitor setup. Not sure why parallels came into mind.
5/13/2008 7:54:49 AM
i hate that i still have a CRT, but it's the only one with anywhere close to accurate color reproduction.
5/13/2008 10:01:43 AM
You will have to pry my diamondtron from my cold dead hands. fuck a lcd.
5/13/2008 10:07:41 AM
im using a 40" Sony Bravia XBR as my PC monitor right now
5/13/2008 10:48:42 AM
Noen are those pipe works in your pic? I think that's what they're called. I had them as a kid.
5/13/2008 4:15:57 PM
Nope, they are called Omagles
5/13/2008 4:20:22 PM
^holy shit. They're totally a rip off of pipeworks by playskool I had them as a kid and you can't find them anywhere. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PipeworksI knew they'd remake those. [Edited on May 13, 2008 at 4:28 PM. Reason : .]
5/13/2008 4:23:05 PM
Not really ripoffs as Omagles are tool-less, and have external clips. Pipeworks looks much more like QuadroAnd the set I have I bought from Sears Surplus when I was 5 or 6. So they are about the same age.[Edited on May 13, 2008 at 4:41 PM. Reason : .]
5/13/2008 4:40:39 PM
we used pipeworks for our OM project in middle school. hooked up an electric motor to them and everything.
5/13/2008 4:47:58 PM
[sour grapes]You people and your LCD monitors.[/sour grapes]When I decided that I was going to use my CRT until it kicked the bucket, I didn't quite plan on it lasting this long... (still using the non-flat 19" CRT, Gateway VX900 i.e. Hitachi CM751U that I got freshman year, late 1998...)
5/13/2008 4:55:05 PM
There's still merit in using crts. I have a viewsonic flatscreen 19". I know photographers who insist on using them. I also can't convince my roommate to go widescreen. He still insists 3-4 4:3 19"s are better than 4 16:10 24-30"s for programming. He works at cisco and they just gave him a 22" to use and he likes it. He only likes putting one window per screen though.[Edited on May 13, 2008 at 5:03 PM. Reason : .]

I think I'm gonna grab another video card, another 19/20" and another 24" lcdsomething like
