Awesome! Danny tore some shit up. Me thinks he needs a '76 Pinto wagon in October. See what he's really made of.
5/11/2008 10:31:27 AM
yea someone got one good pic of my k5 in the shithole (thats an old chicken farm lagoon)
5/11/2008 11:15:12 AM
yea i didnt compete in the race... did come second I think in the mud race part! i also broke powersteering, rear ujoint, and both outer shafts on the 60... and gained about 400lbs of mud in my truck
5/11/2008 11:17:05 AM
Complete noob question here, but I'm kind of surprised no helmets are required? Given potential for debris, rollover, contact, and especially some of these doorless/windowless open cockpits- seems like it would be a no-brainer? [Edited on May 11, 2008 at 5:24 PM. Reason : no pun intended]

Just got back in town... things were cut a bit short today due to the massive downpour this morning. Friday & Saturday were absolutely beautiful, though. TWW Garage-- you all missed one hell of an event!moparnum5 did indeed take home 1st in Class A (Stock), and best over all time of everyone at 6 min 57 sec. on its second run (first run was 5th place, but got bumped out of the top five by the second run's time). No trophy to bring home -- but we did come home with a wench & a check for just over $400.Transfer case got a huge hole in it on the ledge and left a trail of fluids all the way to the finish Front end got demolished on the final jump, but RHSC still drove herself back on the trailer and into the driveway when she got home Pics are being loaded now... so there will be some up soon. I have to wait for my disposable to be developed for the good ones b/c I didn't have my digital with me. ^btw-- full face helmets were required, among other safety requirements. there were no injuries on the trail whatsoever. Only one injury happened at the festival, and that due to sheer stupidity & breaking rules.
5/11/2008 5:39:17 PM
AWESOME! haha I can believe it too, the way he drives that damn thing!
5/11/2008 5:43:40 PM
go team ramrod!!!!
5/11/2008 6:05:49 PM
^^^ Ah, ok. Didn't see any in the later pics posted on the linked thread, hence the question.
5/11/2008 6:18:17 PM
Ah, the joy of tearing shit up!!! I miss you guys!!!
5/11/2008 6:54:16 PM
5/11/2008 7:15:36 PM
Yeah- I was surprised to hear how fast some of the D class (unlimited) guys ended even with having to tackle kodak.... a couple of them were in the low 7s. Most of them broke before they even got there though. One took out a tree, and many of them completely launched off the ledge and surpassed the second obstacle all together It was terrifyingly awesome to watch from <5 ft away.btw-- I meant winch, not wench-- i'm an idiot [Edited on May 11, 2008 at 7:27 PM. I miss my canyon wheels Who all lives on crest? I saw a monster loaded up for the trip a few days ago. I drive down crest all the time and think about stealing the trailer that's hanging out on the road. I would never do it, but I've planned it
5/11/2008 7:49:56 PM
^ I do. and slravene does for the next week until his bitch ass moves. danny if you need a tcase I have my old spare i'll sell you and on the axle, if it's just the brackets, get some RE ones, weld em on and call it goodand Congratulations!!![Edited on May 11, 2008 at 8:10 PM. Reason : .]
5/11/2008 8:08:58 PM
^^better not be mine you're talking about. ^i think i've got him covered on a replacement housing. i've got some 3" x 0.25" square stock too that's perfect for making brackets.
5/11/2008 9:01:49 PM
^^ I may take you up on that how much?front axle is bent!!^ pm repliedmore pics of carnagecheck out that unibody...ouch
5/11/2008 9:10:45 PM
haha! that driver side tube is fawked! impressive work. is that gear oil puking from the passenger side tube or did you cut a brake line with the control arm coming off?told you matt and i would have you covered on parts if you needed them, haha.[Edited on May 11, 2008 at 9:20 PM. Reason : i've got some stock limited wheels too... or slravene has some rockcrawlers for sale]
5/11/2008 9:19:00 PM
yeah, that's gear oil for sure
5/11/2008 9:40:00 PM
Nice rocker protection! Now you have an excuse to do cutout rockers.
5/11/2008 10:44:20 PM
^ you have any more pictures of how you did that (I've been thinking about doing something similar)?and nice cross member..it looks almost untouched...it's ok, I have to remind myself that not all people actually wheel
5/11/2008 11:09:19 PM
http://www.mallcrawlin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12046I wish that was my jeep, he's made a lot more progress than I have.*edit* If you're not a member of mallcrawlin, you should be. Good group of guys and tons of zj/wj tech.[Edited on May 12, 2008 at 12:20 AM. Reason : .]
5/12/2008 12:19:02 AM
i would recommend plating the unibody "frame" a little better than what's pictured also for the way we drive, lol.you'll also want to weld the box tube back to the door sill and pillars as much as you can for structural integrity since that's a pretty critical area of strength for xj's/zj's.i'll bet i know where you did most of the passenger side damage... i used the sliders to pivot off/around that rock each time up. Tuite bashed the rockers on his fj80 there a bit also.
5/12/2008 1:06:38 AM
^ he got into his door also
5/12/2008 1:23:28 AM
yea, ive got some 33s and rock crawlers for sale. PM me if you want.
5/12/2008 1:52:56 AM
oh yea...that bumper was built with all scrap steel that danny brought over in two nights. Turned out pretty good for a pile of fairly worthless metal.Congrats on the win danny! With that new money you can fix your jeep and buy lots of CRF beer!
5/12/2008 1:59:10 AM
That looks like where I nailed my fuel tank lid into that tree, if i'm not mistaken. I cut too far left trying to avoid rocker damage, crab walked left when I hit the gas, and bumped off the tree
5/12/2008 2:54:24 AM
ivan...you got it!.. that's where I got the hole in the transfer and did the rocker damage (I think)
5/12/2008 9:57:02 AM
i can get my dad's loaded up electronic locked out fj80 (95) for a good price. but i doubt i would ruin it wheeling it like that.
5/13/2008 9:11:08 AM
id ruin it wheeling like that
5/14/2008 4:34:15 PM
look mah... safe rockers & a step too...
5/14/2008 4:40:01 PM
is that the rock on RM loop right before kodak?
5/14/2008 6:56:43 PM
yes it is
5/14/2008 8:13:52 PM
I used to get over it by going as far to the right as humanly possible- it doesnt look at all like it would work but it does. Ive done it several times when its dry, but last time I was there it was too wet to get traction with mud on the tires so I went to the bypass on the left and ended up winching it as the truck crab walked to the edge of the trail where it drops off. Before I bought my truck it was known for breaking stock axles on that rock. I havent broken anything there. Hit the sliders several times yes but no breaking.
5/14/2008 8:26:48 PM
What kind of winch and is it for sale?
5/14/2008 9:04:04 PM
video of my first pass over that very rockhttp://media.putfile.com/Another-Grand-Cherokee
5/14/2008 9:13:58 PM
^^^it's changed A LOT since you were last there, as has the whole kodak area in general. much harder. that ledge has eroded a lot further. they usually repair it some each winter, but i guess not this winter.
5/15/2008 12:26:35 AM
what can you modify in stock class?
5/15/2008 9:14:22 AM
