And then got the car inspected. It passed, and I'm planning on going to the courthouse tomorrow and talking to them without hiring a lawyer. Is it likely that it'll get dropped?

almost a certainty
5/8/2008 9:30:30 PM
just call the da's office, you can probably fax proof and save a trip down there
5/8/2008 9:31:50 PM
^not in wake county unless things have changed. you can do that sort of thing in a lot of other counties though. if you can even get someone on the phone that could approve it in wake county, it's a miracle. if you do manage to get past the secretary, they won't have anything to do with discussing a traffic violation. besides, with the way things are run down there and the volume of traffic violations they deal with i wouldn't even think about trusting that process. someone would lose the fax, or it'd go to the wrong place, or something and then you're slapped with a failure to appear and a warrant goes out for your arrest.you'll need to show up, but there's at least a 90% chance they'll drop it unless it was grossly expired or some other surrounding circumstances. the ada will call you up, and ask you if you've gotten it fixed. you show them the proof, and they should say that's it. if they try to get you to enter a plea, say you want a continuance and try again another day.

yeah don't waste the cash on the lawyer unless its worth it for you not to have to leave work. just show up and it'll go away
5/8/2008 10:13:53 PM
you're a retard if you hire a lawyer for this one.
5/8/2008 10:15:27 PM
No shit. I paid off a dumbassery/wheelie ticket (my fault, I was an idiot, paid the idiot tax...and then some). Never went against my ticket. Showed up as failure to appear months later. Had to pay the dog damn thing AGAIN, plus more court costs and fees, AND a restoration fee to the DMV. Those people suck ass. Don't do anything without a receipt in hand.
5/8/2008 10:15:51 PM
yeah, fuck the DMV with a two-peckered porcupine.i don't call it the idiot tax. you don't have to be an idiot to get it. I call it the Fast Driving Supplemental Road Fee.
5/8/2008 10:20:23 PM
The cop gave me a break on the ticket. He was shaking when he got to me. Thought I was going to try to outrun him...and win.
5/8/2008 10:23:01 PM
yeah dmv sucks. It sucks even worse when your last name is foreign and like 20 letters long. I had the same thing like yours and got shafted because of a clerical error. Spelled my last name wrong and entered it wrong in the system. I called like 4 or 5 admins to get it fixed so I wouldn't have to pay extra fees, but gave up and just paid the 100. Worst system ever.

if it weren't for insurance and delays the fast driving tax would be worth it..

I went through a roadblock last weekend and they were bugging because my inspection went out in January 2007. I told him I just bought the car a month ago and they let it slide. Then I had to go back through the roadblock an hour later and they were bugging again. I was like "Naw, that dude over there told me I was cool...Go talk to him." but he still wanted to bug.bWTF. Let me be.
5/8/2008 11:41:36 PM
not to mention, while they're busy hassling you about your inspection, slowblack96 just rolled through in his 1.5L camaro. 12 beers deep, dwlr, and wanted for excessive littering with 2 gallon milk jugs. he was also on the way to murder bobby libontiy.i know they can help catch a lot of "bad" criminals, but roadblocks are borderline unconstitutional. not to mention a tremendous waste of resources.

I like roadblocks. Saves me time from having to go out and find violations. at checkpoints I just stand there and let the violations come to me. We only do them during click it ticket stuff though. They are okay for about an hour then I get bored and ready to go do something else.
5/9/2008 4:07:58 AM
^^Wtf, get it fixed.
5/9/2008 4:19:16 AM
^^well, of course you like them. that's like getting to go on a field trip for school or something.honestly though, how many violent offenders do you think you get in a day? if your main goal is to serve warrants and things, why are people getting tickets for expired inspection, registration, or whatever? how much do you think it costs to run one vs. that many men doing their "normal" jobs? do you think you're violating people's search/seizure rights? what about people that run from checkpoints, starting a high speed chase ending in serious injury or death?i mean hell, if we're going to let the police just stand around and stop us and search our vehicles when they please, why not start up random house searches? it could even be justified with the same phrases/scare tactics like "safety", "catching criminals", "community involvement", and a whole host of other bs.

Cops and everyone in law enforcement should remember their sworn oath to defend the American constitution. You didn't swear an oath to promote totalitarian government rule. Honor your oaths. Protect the people's civil rights. Just think twice about what you do.

^^ did you sell that black rag on ebay 22s. or are you fucking mexicans. i see that raggimuffin in a mexican hood once or twice a week.[Edited on May 9, 2008 at 11:55 AM. Reason : 12+ beers and a bottle of champaign]

My vehicle inspection is up in June but as a lot of you know I reside in NYC. This year I can't get it inspected in time. I'm busy the first wknd of June and the 2nd week of June I'm having surgery that won't allow me to drive for 6 weeks. When that time is up I plan on driving down to NC to get the car inspected.Question is, will I possibly get a ticket from the cops up here in NYC or will they not recognize the sticker and not give a fuck?
