has anyone ever lived here? Like to hear some feedback before I make a decision on anything.

its pretty chill place to live and living right behind lake johnson is the shit...they are kinda older-ish and not on the wolfline though
4/29/2008 11:07:07 PM
I was pretty much planning on parking in west lot anyway because my job is over near wolf village, is that one of the only major drawbacks?
4/29/2008 11:08:05 PM
pretty much...i've known a few ppl that lived there and they liked it

wildwoods of lake johnson is much betterbetter managementfast repairsthey helped us move invery cheapthey don't tow residents cars during spring break to increase revenues (LJM towed residents b/c of paving during spring break).
4/29/2008 11:10:31 PM
yeah and about 7 minutes further than lake johnson mews [Edited on April 29, 2008 at 11:11 PM. Reason : going to school]
4/29/2008 11:11:29 PM
^ About 4-5 minutes max (well worth it if you have a spot and a car). I have lived at both and this place is much better (rent, management, neighbors).
4/29/2008 11:15:59 PM
second wildwoods
4/29/2008 11:20:32 PM
yeah if price and distance aint an option move into wildwoods...seriously
4/29/2008 11:21:09 PM
seems like as far as distance, I can jump on jones franklin and be to western just as fast as avent ferry would be, especially considering how bad traffic can get on avent ferry.
4/29/2008 11:23:08 PM
^ I agree I park at dan allen deck and its quick as hell, I do wade ave to dixie and then I'm basically in the deck (I leave all the time with 25 minutes to spare for a grad class. Both ways franklin to western, beltline to western, or beltline to hills or wade there all about the same time (it all depends where your parking pass is and when you're going to campus).[Edited on April 29, 2008 at 11:32 PM. 4/29/2008 11:25:55 PM
yeah so i was making a late night run to cookout for a study break and I say to myself, what the hell, i'll see what this wildwoods place was all about, I couldn't really see much of it, but I really just wanted to see how fast it took me to get to places, 6 minutes to dan allen deck, but no traffic really.
4/30/2008 2:02:11 AM
when i would be at my ex's it could leave 15 minutes before class and make it there as class started including parking and walk to class.
4/30/2008 2:05:03 AM
i just hate jones franklin near the beltline...cant stand that shit when its busy[Edited on April 30, 2008 at 2:07 AM. Reason : and jones franklin western sucks but i guess not from that way]
4/30/2008 2:06:57 AM
4/30/2008 7:29:14 AM
i was harassed twice in the parking lot and didn't even live there.
4/30/2008 9:06:58 AM
I have lived at LJM since July 06. During 07 the management switched up and i know a lot of people had problems with the new lady (one being the major towing fiasco spring break 07). However, she got replaced late last fall but new lady who's a lot better. Also, the rent for a two bedroom has jumped from 809/month when i started to $919 for new residents (may have reduced it since last time i checked); with mine increasing to $829.Pros:--Like the "woodsy" feel of the complex since all the trees and stuff are built up around the complex- Proximity to lake johnson- Close to campus (2 miles to centinnial; 3 miles to centinnial)- Not ghetto- Parking is never an issue for me or my guests.- Not overrun by party crazed college students (pro for me but could be a negative)- The actual apartments are spacious, clean, and have an awesome porch/deck.- The maintenance crew is pretty responsive.- Nice provided kitchen appliances in the renovated units.Negs:- Can be on the high $ side for a college budget- Residents do include young families and older working class people (so you may get bitched at about noise eventhough you are being "relatively" quiet just having a few friends hanging out)- The provided wireless internet sucks. Goes down all the time and feels like i am using dial-up during peak hours.- Pool is not very conducive to tanning and gets dirty b.c of the big ass pine trees around it- People in the common foyer can hear about everything going on in your apt rather it be watching TV/fucking in the bedroom/talking/ etc- Could use some updating
4/30/2008 12:17:19 PM
DO NOT LIVE THERETHE MANAGEMENT IS GOD AWFUL
4/30/2008 12:19:59 PM
and they didn't actually replace the girl who worked there that sucked... that girl was PROMOTED and is now the regional supervisor.
4/30/2008 12:22:02 PM
^^ the new management is not that bad. They got rid of that bitch who used to work there.
4/30/2008 12:26:56 PM
no they didn't. they promoted her. trust me, they are just as bad.
4/30/2008 12:30:36 PM
btw i read the entire lease b4 moving in; and a year later i did not remember the 5-day rule. While some shit is intuitive and common sense like not having a camp fire on your wooden deck; LJM using this obscure condition on the leases to justify this straight up dick move is absurd.
4/30/2008 12:31:53 PM
way way overpriced for what you get... if you pay over 800 or 900 for a 2-bedroom there, you are getting ripped offyou could have a much nicer place for cheaper.Trees around the place can be good, but the other side of that is tree limbs/pine cones/SAP etc...all over your car. That gets old fast. Also, feral cats are all over the place and love to walk on your car during the night and leave footprints.
4/30/2008 4:39:29 PM
4/30/2008 4:52:34 PM
You're a whiny fucking liar, HURL. If you got towed, you deserved it, you piece of shit.
4/30/2008 5:05:02 PM
ummmmmmm...was that really neccessary hooksaw? i agree with hur with his comments on ivy chase(dont know its new name) that they use to tow like nazis there]
4/30/2008 5:09:16 PM
there was not even 24 hours notice for a lot of people. don't give me that shit.
4/30/2008 5:09:25 PM
MOODY used to live there
4/30/2008 5:34:58 PM
4/30/2008 5:37:48 PM
^ I love that guy! I worked at that restaurant for six months!Yodajammies lives there. Its really nice, but if you don't care about living next to the lake, overpriced. The bedrooms are decent sized (his was a converted family room so it had a fireplace in it, which was neat) and there are pretty good closet space.
4/30/2008 7:39:27 PM
Oh god. Terrible, terrible management. My roommate was one of the ones who got towed. We got the notice the day before, but we were both out, but I had my car with me Certain sections got less than 24 hours notice. When we went to extend our lease, the lady at the front desk agreed/noted it/whatever. Apparently a verbal agreement is not legit (She confirmed that she had agreed in later talks, but it wasn't in writing). They booked someone into our room after the agreement and told us two weeks before they forced us out (6 weeks later) that they had leased out the apartment. I went to the main office to find out what the fuck was going on, and was given the run-around while the "person in charge was out on vacation." I gave them my cell number twice and didn't get any call backs. As long as the current management is completely different, I'd go for it. Anyone know for a fact that its changed?
4/30/2008 7:44:15 PM
it's not different.
4/30/2008 7:56:10 PM
I've lived in LJM for one year now (current resident) I started in a 1 bedroom and I switched to a 2 bedroom mid-lease and they were very helpful and flexible with my switching.Indeed, the rents are higher than other "college apartments" but I should stress that these aren't typical college apartments. While there are many students here its a very mature crowd (ie-- no loud parties, wild stuff, etc...) They are very strict on background checks so the residents who live here are not shady people, they are good regular looking folks. I never worry about crime or car break ins, if it happens its certainly very minimal. The units are very nice, almost all of them were renovated in the past couple of years. My unit has brand new carpet, appliances, bathrooms, etc.. I've lived in several apartments during my college years and this is by far the best community I have seen/lived in. I will be sad to leave when I move for graduate school.
4/30/2008 8:34:14 PM
I used to get drunk and swim in the LJM pool. I dont think we ever got yelled at either come to think of it.Seemed like an awesome place to live but then again I wasn't paying so who knows.
4/30/2008 8:53:16 PM
^^ exactly all the reasons i like it here. One night i left my sunroof open by accident and nothing was gone. At lake park i would have come back to find my car looted if not even car jacked by some of the rift-raft living there.
4/30/2008 10:02:21 PM
i lived there in 01-02. Definitely a decent place for what I was paying, etc, and I was only like a 10 sec walk to the water. The pool was always full of leaves and shit though.
4/30/2008 10:05:08 PM
^^ DEY TUK ERRR CARZ!!!1
4/30/2008 10:47:36 PM
I've got some friends that live there. Always seems like a quiet place when I'm around.
4/30/2008 10:51:29 PM
i lived there for 5 years or so and really liked it. it doesn't compare to a house though. my brother still lives there dmballer18 [Edited on April 30, 2008 at 10:53 PM. Reason : user]
4/30/2008 10:52:52 PM
^^^ hey man; my car was not towed. I got the 10-hour notice of "move your car or else".I am sure having left your car there would not have been an issue to you because you would sucked some good dick of the tow truck guy to get your car out for free.
4/30/2008 10:58:03 PM

haha really. When I used to live there we would throw down. Keg in the parking lot was a lot of fun.
5/1/2008 3:54:52 PM
i lived there in 04-05 and the only problem i had was with the thieving dishonest management. but i'm sure they've changed up management 3 or 4 times since then like most other apartment complexes...
5/1/2008 8:12:38 PM
thieving dishonest management sums it up.
5/2/2008 11:05:53 AM
thanks for the feedback guys, I think i'm going with wildwoods.
5/2/2008 1:33:06 PM
go with wildwoods, LJM isnt that bad, but the buildings are very old meaning you can hear your neighbors all the time, when they are having sex at 4am, or fighting with their bf at 8am on a Saturday, or my boyfriend even claims to have heard the girl upstairs phone ring on vibrate. you can definitely hear EVERYTHING and it get old very quickly.
