My girlfriend got a text message a little while ago from her OWN number that said, "Call your significant other."She couldn't have even accidentally done it herself because it's a flip phone, the phone was in her purse at the time and she was at my apartment no where near the purse or the phone.Strange, much? It freaked her out pretty solidly, so I just thought I'd ask and see what the lounge thought. Any ideas?I'd appreciate it if you could hold off on the toolbag remarks since it's the lounge. Thanks.

I've gotten that more then once before, nothing to be freaked out about I just chalk it up to my shitty carrier Alltel.

when you call alltel, if you hit 1 instead of 3 it goes to "send a numeric page or a short text message." One of the options is "Call your significant other" and it shows up as your own number (so you wont get charged for it, maybe?) So it was probably just someone who didn't sit through the voice mail to hear the options then trying to get out of it, I wouldn't look to far into it.Go try it.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I don't text message at all. I'm either at the computer to talk through IM or e-mail, or I just call the person, so I had no idea what it could have been. She was worried about it simply because she'd never seen anything like it before. She hasn't had Alltel for long (if this happens often with them). These answers are satisfactory. Thank you!

Yeah, and if you go into the 'quick replies' folder, that is one of the options, iirc. My 'new' phone don't have that folder, but my old one did.
