i have always been a procrastinator and am currently doing a great job avoiding this term paper (due tomorrow @ 5 pm)i have yet to learn from my mistakes; every time this happens i say to myself, "im never doing this again" but i never change my waysbeing interested in the work isnt an issue; i enjoy classes and my graduate researchso back to the original question: how do you stop yourself from falling into this trap?

The only way I was able to ever get around it was to go to somewhere where there is absolutely nothing fun to do and no distractions. I think the worst part about it is not getting started... once you get into, it isn't as bad.

I don't, i just let it envelop me in it's cushiony folds and take a nap.

yeah getting started is the hard part...once you get going its not badkind of like when you're 5 years old and you're supposed to take a shower...you don't want to get in, but once you get in you're all like OH THIS WATER FEELS SOOOOOOOO GOOD]

well i do take naps but that just fucks up my sleep schedule and makes me even less productiveit feels like that there is a 15 foot concrete wall in front of me and i have a ladder, but instead of climbing it (not that difficult), id rather just sit down and not do anything, maybe stare at the grass or something

it's okay, I usually find anything to do other than what i am supposed to. the stress makes me perform better

I always work better in crunch time; I'm like the Robert Horry of school papersIf somethings assigned 3 months before its due, there's no way in hell I'm going to start more than 24 hours before its dueMy rule of thumb is to wait till the number of hours + 1 till its due is equal to the number of pages the paper is going to be.So for a 20 pager, I wait till 21 hours till its due...a page an hour, plus one hour for revisions. It usally works out, but sometimes it doesn't and I have to make up an excuse to get an extension. But I'm a fantastic liar so its all good.

fuck this paper

By embracing it to the fullest.

when i want to avoid procrastinating, i put off procrastinating until the last minute.
4/24/2008 9:47:03 PM
about halfway done~18 hours til its due
4/24/2008 11:43:50 PM
strippers and blow, man...strippers and blow...

I just accept procrastination as a fact of lifeI'd almost rather have 1 day of absolute suck, but get the rest of my time care free.
4/25/2008 1:26:12 AM
^ i agree. and i guess my problem is that i haven't learned my lesson yet. procrastination always SUCKS but i work better under pressure. so until i completely fail at something, i'll probably just keep doing it
