They really should.
4/24/2008 1:54:42 AM
people shouldnt drive drunk.but i am with you on the sidewalk
4/24/2008 1:55:29 AM
I don't understand why it's correct for cyclists to be in the road
4/24/2008 1:56:18 AM
yeah i never understood that either...kbbrown3 told me places like raleigh, its still ok to do it, but he said other places dont like it
4/24/2008 1:58:38 AM
sidewalks are for pedestrians. roads are for the rest.
4/24/2008 2:00:37 AM
on the sidewalk - pedestrians hate us, plus they really get in the way.. so obliviouson the road - drivers hate usreally, there's nowhere to ride that would be fine with everyone. however, i don't ride in the street just because i'd rather be avoiding pedestrians than have angry drivers trying to avoid me.
4/24/2008 2:00:57 AM
SHARE THE ROAD
4/24/2008 2:01:49 AM
lol, it's the sideWALK. Your lard ass is just jealous because you can't ride one.
4/24/2008 2:35:12 AM
avent ferry road has a bike pathso you wanna be one nut blood doping faggots should keep your ass over there
4/24/2008 2:36:27 AM
Most roads don't have a bike path.
4/24/2008 2:38:48 AM
want one? it was my little tour de ferry joke!
4/24/2008 2:40:17 AM
When I commute to work on my bike, I stay on the sidewalk or just the dirt as much as I can. But I have a mountain bike. My boss race road bikes, and some of them can get banged up pretty badly from fucked up sidewalks. That being said, there is no reason for the fuckers who ride 4 abreast in Chatham Co on a Saturday afternoon not to ride single file when a car is passing.
4/24/2008 8:01:18 AM
A lot of places it's illegal to ride your bike on the sidewalk. I personally think that's stupid but there are a lot of stupid laws out there.
4/24/2008 8:02:36 AM
Which sounds more reasonable and which is more dangerous?Pedestrians have to watch for bikers potentially running them over.Bikers have to watch for cars potentially running them over.Clearly, Bikes should be on the goddamn sidewalk where it is safer. Is it really that hard for a pedestrian to step aside for 5 fucking seconds?
4/24/2008 8:06:14 AM
I ride wherever i think is most convenient for others.. i.e. no pedestrians i hit the sidewalk... no cars i hit the road... Ohh btw...on behalf of all cyclists we're sorry about being responsible and not just abusing the ability to drive..
4/24/2008 8:06:41 AM
Had some fucking douchebag on a BMX (so not a serious biker) in the fog this morning in town going down the wrong side of the road on his bike on a 4-lane road. I had a car by me and he wouldn't get over. I swerved back to the center of my lane as soon as I passed him, and this fucking dick spun around like he thought I was trying to hit him or something. Then he started trying to "chase me down" on his bike. Hah, that didn't work out for him. Fucking asshat bikers.
4/24/2008 8:09:20 AM
i ride on the road. it's the law where i'm at. big city where sidewalks are packed with people and roads are packed with cars. i go faster than the cars a lot of the time.in raleigh, i would ride on both the road and sidewalk depending where i was at. obviously not every route has a sidewalk and i ride a road-bike, so it's not easy hoping curbs and shit... would really fuck up my rims and bust tubes.[Edited on April 24, 2008 at 8:13 AM. Bicyclists can share the road when then can go the GD speed limit.

Either bicyclists are considered pedstrians, or they are considered vehicles. NOT both at the same time as they are now. If they are pedestrians, they have to be on the sidewalk if at all possible, while not hitting other pedestrians. If they are vehicles, they should have to keep up with traffic and obey all laws. Meaning cars cant just zip past them, but they cant go 20mph when the limit is 45. They pose a hazard then. And they also cant fucking run red lights cause they are impatient. And stop fucking lane splitting you careless bitches. You're gonna slip and hit my stopped car, and it will probably still be MY fault. Next one that lane splits next to me is getting an opened door in their face. Fuckers.^ Bicyclists should be worrying about running a pedestrian over. Same with bikers in the road. Cars should worry about them. But the thing is, when your doing 10-15mph on the sidewalk, the walkers and runners are going between 0-5mph and when on the street, the cars are going 30-55 mph. Which seems safer? Having to e-brake your bike and fall over or run into bushes cause there was a pedestrian there? Or having a car e-brake into you doing 30mph faster? You could really hurt a pedestrian with bruises, cuts, maybe a broken bone. On the road, if a car hits you, all that stuff is considered minimal and expected. You're more likely to get concussions, open head wounds, compound fractures, crushing injuries, and road rash. Which is worse?[Edited on April 24, 2008 at 9:16 AM. Reason : s]
4/24/2008 8:55:17 AM
Agreed. They should def have to follow all the rules of one or the other..not pick and chose to whichever is most convenient/quickest at the time.
4/24/2008 8:56:38 AM
but thats the reason we do it... when i went to school i could get to and from campus faster on a bike than in a car. don't h8 no biker has ever hit you have they?
4/24/2008 8:59:58 AM
^Signed, I'm tired of almost killing bicyclists because they decide that the red lights don't apply to them.
4/24/2008 9:01:08 AM
Yeah, I'm really not trying to be a dick about people on bikes...I've just almost hit a few when they start trying to go around traffic, run redlights, etc. I'd prefer not to run anybody over if I can help itUnless I'm still drunk the morning after my 21st bday. Then it's ok......too soon?
4/24/2008 9:03:38 AM

4/24/2008 9:04:12 AM
Ohh thats bull i'll agree there.. the rules are if a bike is in the crosswalk its a pedestrian and must obey the walk/don't walk sign if it is in the intersection it is a car and must obey the light....My problem is cyclists would be more respectful to drivers if drivers were more respectful. Most drivers don't even respect motorcycles let alone bicycles.... you don't know how many times I've almost been run over by a left turning car whether I'm in the intersection or as a pedestrian EITHER WAY I HAVE THE RIGHT AWAY.]
4/24/2008 9:05:40 AM
4/24/2008 9:12:47 AM
As a driver I follow almost all of the rules. except for those black and white rectangular signs with two words and a number. I don't run lights or signs, etc.If cyclists would follow rules either way I'd be happy. I understand that not everyone does these things.[Edited on April 24, 2008 at 9:15 AM. 4/24/2008 9:14:06 AM
Cyclists are legally obliged to follow all of the laws that drivers must follow, including stoping at red lights, waiting in the turning lane, and riding in the street. They should not be in the middle of the lane, however. That is why I like living in Cary, every street either has a bike lane, or is wide enough to allow bikers. With gas prices > $3.50 get used to bikers in the road.
4/24/2008 9:15:15 AM
4/24/2008 9:26:08 AM
As a cyclist, I follow all the road rules and stop at red lights and mostly stop at stop signs. But I do put my safety over rules and will ride on the sidewalk if dumbass drivers aren't aware of me or only leave about four inches between their car and the curb for me to ride in.
4/24/2008 9:38:52 AM
4/24/2008 9:40:54 AM
hey cyclist, fuck you for making my commute home 15 minutes longer... going 15 mph on a 55mph road in a clusterfuck of 30 cyclist taking up the entire road.
4/24/2008 9:42:43 AM
whenever i see someone riding their bike in the road, i buzz by them as close as i can as fast as possible to make sure they are paying attention. It's fun to see their reactions in the rear view.
4/24/2008 9:43:37 AM
yeah, and people WALKING on the sidewalks should yield to bicycles so they don't have to drive off the curb to get around them.
4/24/2008 9:44:08 AM
Ohh yeah and those critical mass rides some clubs due "to demand respect on the roads" only piss off drivers... and actually jcashfan i was being sarcastic if anyone knows me they know my favorite car i own gets 5/12 mpg and doesn't have emissions equipment cause it doesn't have to.
4/24/2008 9:47:43 AM
^^How can we not be paying attention, when we can hear you coming from a good way off?
4/24/2008 9:48:06 AM
^4 that is some dumb shitwhat are you going to do when you kill somebody?also, shouldn't you be encouraging the bike riders? 4/24/2008 9:56:36 AM
if you look at it, the laws are all fucked up and dont do the best for preventing vehicle-pedestrian or vehicle-bicycle accidents. bikers are supposed to be on the road with their back facing traffic. sure, it's because cyclists hit from behind suffer less traumatic injuries than a head on, but they cant see shit! on top of that, who decided to give pedestrians the right of way? that's just asking for people to get hit. should be the other way around, pedestrians should wait for traffic to pass before crossing.and hell, widen sidewalks to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists. but i second the thought of getting pissed off at cyclists that hog the road at their leisure. please, try to find some roads without heavy traffic, or where they're at least wide enough for you and traffic to be their at the same time.and every once in a while, take a look to make sure there arent 238472357 cars creeping slowly behind you. pull over, let them pass, then continue on your way.all it takes is some fuckin courtesy and common sense. then we're all safe and happy.next topic, the low-country black people that ALL seem to think that they should walk in the middle of the road rather than on the shoulder. i am serious, i have not seen a single black person where i live (in the middle of nowhere) who is walking anywhere but in the middle of the road, then they scurry when they notice you're coming. granted, there isnt much traffic where i am, seeing as it's a town of ~50 people or so.
4/24/2008 10:02:45 AM
Quick question for the non-cyclists...At what price will you stop or at least limit your driving and/or consider starting to ride a bike for at least some of your traveling needs (errands, to work or school, etc)?
4/24/2008 10:05:10 AM
^^ That happens in my neighborhood too in the middle of the city... with 2 sidewalks available.[Edited on April 24, 2008 at 10:06 AM. Reason : .]

Pedestrians only have the right of way in crosswalks.Otherwise its jaywalking and the car is not at fault.See: dumbass girl who was killed on Western last year.

i'd just like to add those that think you shouldnt ride bikes on the sidewalk are dumb
