Steve Howe's guitar work throughout is stellarAlan White is every bit as good of a drummer as Bruford isChris Squire is an amazing bassist periodand Rick Wakeman is Rick fucking Wakemanand Anderson uses his voice as an instrument itselfsure the album is long winded but each of these musicians come together and do some amazing stuff, you've only to listen out for it

My dad is a huge Yes fan and has just about everything they have ever put out. (Has all the albums up to 90125 on vinyl, then rebought them all when they came out on CD.) I didn't care too much for this one. I liked the 35th Anniversary tour and Symphonic DVDs better. As for Topographic Oceans, there are pieces of every song that are pretty good, but on the whole the album is a piece of crap. Definitely have to be in the right mood to listen to even one song off of it.

admittedly there are better yes albums out there than talesmy 3 favorite always have been and always will be the yes album close to the edge and fragilebut i still don't dismiss tales as horrible
