I had never heard about it until I saw this article today. Sounds pretty bad ass.http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar/columns/story?columnist=mcgee_ryan&id=3350258

umm yeah, this is some old news. well kind of new that they are going through with the build.a year ago they stopped the build. but this track has been in the works for like 2-3 years now.should be interesting to compete with VIR and lowes.

WISH THAT I WAS ON OLD HIGH ROCK
4/22/2008 9:53:31 PM
^^I assumed someone had heard something about it. I was surprised that it was so close to completion, and not a peep about it here in Charlotte.

oh great...another nascar road course
4/22/2008 11:07:13 PM
^^yah, thats what i thought also. i was actually thinking about this track the other day. never bothered to look it up though.^are they really running nascars on that? talk about a slow track. major pile ups

well dang. it'll be a sight to see.
4/22/2008 11:19:53 PM
we all should buy a condo. tww timeshare.
4/22/2008 11:32:07 PM
^ Twas my first thought, but then I saw that the condo only comes with one membership and each additional membership is $25k + $3k per year in dues.I'd be down for a 1/10 share if it weren't for that pesky extra $25k + dues.
4/22/2008 11:34:36 PM
someday, i'll have a place like that (I need to find a road course with condos on it near some mountains with good skiing! then I can just have my primary residence on an airpark near the beach, and i'll be all set!)

EFR. I'd wondered what he'd been up to in sportscar racing retirement. There's really an overabundance of road courses in the general area that are built solely for NASCAR testing (as opposed to, I don't know, actual races for various road racing series). There's Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, S.C. There's VIR right across the border. And all three of these road courses are becoming NASCAR testing tracks for the 2 out of 36 races that NASCAR hold on road courses. The business model doesn't make a lot of sense.[Edited on April 23, 2008 at 9:25 AM. honeslty, with the name and class of VIR, i would still goto VIR. but who knows. maybe this place will be a good turnout.

It'll kill off ViR if this guy has really done his planning.
4/23/2008 4:27:35 PM
^yup

^^^ i hope it just drives prices down at VIR and CMP
4/23/2008 8:30:57 PM
man, VIR has an established track. unless this new track completely blows them out of the water in every aspect, which i really dont see happening, then all of your track days are probably gonna be the same price. its gonna be the high rock track with the cheaper rates. but it would be nice. i can def. see this track being second best in NC (counting VIR as NC track).
4/23/2008 9:34:26 PM
It will take some time for this track to gain a reputation. While I know nothing about VIR, if it is at least comparable, then the location alone will be enough to make this track very popular.Plus, the condos give them a permanent customer base.
4/23/2008 11:09:39 PM
USGP should go there, I would be happy. I just want some major auto races besides the Grand Am race at VIR to be within a day off possibility instead of an entire weekend.

^ Formula One is not going rural anywhere.
