So my nano (one of the new ones) has frozen.

I heard there's a way you can "reset" it by toggling the hold button and pressing down another button...but I've tried several different combinations and haven't gotten any luck.

Any other suggestions? I'm trying not to go to the "send it back to Apple" route. I've had it for about 6 months.

Actually just did go to apple.com....did what they said do...and its still frozen (before your post).

So my thread is still valid...but probably for only an hour as I'm about to go have it sent off.

are you in Raleigh, or near an Apple Store?
if it is frozen and <1 year old, they will replace it on the spot.

i assume you read this http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705

2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Yep...that's what I read. Although it's kind of difficult to do on a nano.

And not in Raleigh...in Charleston. We're actually getting an apple store in about a month...but that doesn't help much right now. I wish I could just take it back to the store, get store credit, and get a touch. This nano is almost full anyways.

Fuck.

Well I wasn't originally looking for a solution. But since you asked...itunes comes up and everything works except for when I double-click on a song. It just doesn't do anything. I can go through my library, move songs around, search for stuff on the i-tunes store. Basically do everything except for play a song.

^And I haven't had one ipod problem in the 3 years I've had an ipod (all nanos). So this is kind of my first problem.

Debating getting a Zune.
