4/20/2008 5:45:12 PM
^^^ holy shit, thats bad ass and ballsy as fuck^^ sure ^ I'm sure he does what and who he wants on the side
4/20/2008 5:46:29 PM
at least in a monarchy it is "cute" when the ruling class squanders state money with some personal bullshitand I appreciate his sentimentality - in the US some senator would have just given her family a billion dollar government contract
4/20/2008 5:51:45 PM
to a point he"inherited" shit since his ancestors did help establish the place and defend it back in the daybut yeahlol @ a monarchy
4/20/2008 5:53:45 PM
I'm sure that was the military helicopter he inherited from his cousin the duke of wales or some bullshitthat's taxpayer money buying that helicopter... and staffing it
4/20/2008 5:56:12 PM
haha hell yeah, he ballershit it was probably cheaper than him doing it the other way and the taxpayers flippin the bill lolplus I suppose the bright side is he got hours

i haven't read all about this, but my guess is that there's a good chance that he was flying anyway, and they just happened to land at his girlfriend's house.we do the same things in our jets here (except that we can't land in fields ). Wanna go to Vegas or San Diego for the weekend? No problem...plan up some training flights that you were otherwise gonna do locally, and take a jet or two on the road for the weekend. You win by getting to fly to somewhere you wanna go on the taxpayer dime, and the taxpayers win by getting more training done by having the jets flying and the aircrew working on the weekends.[Edited on April 20, 2008 at 6:05 PM. Reason : i've taken a jet from FL to CA mostly just to visit a hot chick i knew who was stationed there]
4/20/2008 6:04:05 PM
hours are hours, doesn't matter why you're in the air lol
4/20/2008 6:08:07 PM
4/20/2008 6:08:19 PM
Key West, San Diego, Vegas...a whole shit ton of training is accomplished enroute to and from these places (and it's better training than normal, in some cases, because it's in unfamiliar areas where you don't fly every day)

4/20/2008 6:25:12 PM
It's kind of like tacking on a few days of holiday, weekend, or personal time to a business trip somewhere.
4/20/2008 6:32:29 PM
4/20/2008 6:37:51 PM

4/20/2008 9:03:00 PM
can someone explain to me why we need to buy new fighter jets?
4/20/2008 9:05:00 PM
^^^ NAS Whidbey Island, WA. Coming to Cherry Point in a couple of months.^^ the EA-18G is replacing the Prowler for the Navy. The USMC is keeping the Prowler for the foreseeable future.^ make a thread in the Soap Box. that's too much discussion for here.[Edited on April 20, 2008 at 9:08 PM. Reason : asfd]
4/20/2008 9:07:55 PM
are you serious? ^^there's about a million reasons to do so. here's 1.so we can stay ahead of the rest of the world. stealth fighters that avoid enemy radar = we win any potential war.^oh. i thought i read recently that the f18E has all the necessary radar / jamming equipment now + longer range + weapons + cheaper to maintain. thats cool though, it's an ugly ass plane though [Edited on April 20, 2008 at 9:09 PM. Reason : ^^]
4/20/2008 9:08:19 PM
Even Princess Di couldn't counteract the ugly of that Charles.

4/20/2008 9:22:37 PM
theDuke866, nice to hear you will be coming to Cherry Point. I work down here as well (civilian on the base). I hear the prowlers all the time.
4/20/2008 9:25:32 PM
yeh, i'd honestly rather get caught with my pants down in an f18G than stuck in a prowlerbut gg either way
4/20/2008 9:26:01 PM
4/20/2008 9:46:16 PM
4/20/2008 9:55:57 PM
On a largely unrelated note; I found out tonight that R.J. Mitchell, the man who designed the Sptifire, died in 1937 and never knew the impact of his aircraft, nor was he ever knighted, even posthumously, for it. If Elton John can be knighted, why isn't this guy?
