I tore mine tuesday playing ultimate frisbee of all sports. Worst pain I have ever felt in my life. Still cant walk on it. Anyone have any stories to tell of their own or friends/family members experiences with this?

why would you tear it? that seems like a pretty dumb decision...

^it was a tough decision to make on whether or not I should tear it. For some reason I said what the hell, let's tear it. Just wanted to be spontaneous.

I tore mine 2 years ago playing rugby. It was misdiagnosed as a torn meniscus until I finally got the MRI done. I ended up being on crutches for over 3 months while I waited for the hospital back home to fit me in for the MRI, to send the results to my doctor, and then for the doctor to contact me. The school wouldn’t give me a temporary handicap pass so I had to continue to use the park and ride while on crutches for those 3 months. The bricks are horrible when it rains. Either my crutches would slide or my good leg would. Needless to say, it was a rough semester and I didn’t make it to half of my classes. Then from me having my knee in a brace and not using it at all for 3 months, it basically locked up and I lost most the muscle in my leg. I had to do months of physical therapy just to get it mobile enough for the acl surgery.Hope yours goes better than mine.

mine was diagnosed as a weak calf muscle (how doctor came up with that, i dont know) but ended up going back week later to have MRI to confirm a torn ACL.I had pain for a couple hours after tearing it, but then waited almost 8 months to get it fixed. Within 2 days I was back to normal activity (only limited in jumping), and I was still able to play intramural football and could run / cut almost at normal levels. I am sure you heard it before, but do the rehad as they tell you, its all about getting the muscles around the area back to normal.
