okay, so, quick question.this is my room. it's fairly large.i'm gonna go buy a couple more of those wire shelving units because i love them and they're very functional + cheap + look halfways decent. my LCD + receiver + tivo + etc. (on #2), along with various other things (on #1 and #3) will go on these - i have a TV stand centered on the staircase wall right now and it just looks too "empty"these are what i'm talking about:http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=71473-80752-184874B&lpage=nonedraw your attention to #1, #2, and #3my question is:which would look better? #1 and #3 as 5-shelf units with #2 as a 3-shelf unit (all attached to one another)-or-#1 and #3 as 3-shelf units with #2 as a 5-shelf unit (again, all attached)i can't decide.behind them, there is a ~4' wall parallel to the staircase, just fyi.what would tww do?]

4/18/2008 9:57:10 AM

4/18/2008 9:57:28 AM
do the tall shelves on 1 and 3 and the short shelf on 2It'll look better!!
4/18/2008 9:59:24 AM
^tis what i was leaning towards

go with the 3-5-3 set-up, unless you're going to put a lot of stuff on #1-#3 then go with the 5-3-53-5-3 is more practical unless you have a shit-ton of things to put on them[Edited on April 18, 2008 at 10:02 AM. Reason : afterthought]
4/18/2008 10:01:41 AM
3-5-3 will look like a middle fingerit will be more balanced with a 5-3-5 set-up
4/18/2008 10:02:25 AM
the wire shelves look ghetto.
4/18/2008 10:02:48 AM
wouldn't it look a little strange tho? idk...i'm just thinking of most entertainment center type units i've seen in the past, and they've had tall stuff on the outsides w/ the tv in the center on a shorter shelfughdecisions decisionsand they're not ghetto, they're postmodern! haha, i know they're ghetto, but i'd rather drop $100 for some shelves than $500 on a nice entertainment center for my damn bedroom]

4/18/2008 10:04:09 AM
i say 5-3-5
4/18/2008 10:06:57 AM
so the general consensus among females is 5-3-5and the general consensus among males is 3-5-3aw fuck, now i'll feel gay if i go w/ 5-3-5
4/18/2008 10:07:55 AM
$229.00http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70103090
4/18/2008 10:09:20 AM
you're asking what will look better, right? are you going to go with the guys so you won't "seem gay"?? that makes sense...
4/18/2008 10:09:26 AM
^^that's even worse than the shelves ^and no, i'll probably go with 5-3-5, haha]
4/18/2008 10:09:39 AM
are you trying to make your room look good to guys or girls?
4/18/2008 10:10:16 AM
technically, a 5-3-5 is most like an entertainment center but you're doing it with wire shelves so it's not going to be the same.do the 3-5-3 and laugh everytime someone comes over because you're indiscreetly flipping them off!
4/18/2008 10:11:07 AM
^ahaha this new piece of information has caused me to rethink my decision
4/18/2008 10:11:41 AM
I think LardAss should be unsuspended so that he can come give you advice on the layout of your room.
4/18/2008 10:31:17 AM
if it was "indiscreet" then they'd already know...wouldn't he be "discreetly" flipping them off?? or am i an idiot?
4/18/2008 10:32:30 AM
^my bad! thanks grammar nazi!!
4/18/2008 10:33:55 AM

i was going to put a shelf at the top of the 3 to sort of even it outkinda hard to describethe shelves are 36" wideand what's funny about putting electronics on wire shelving? lawl[Edited on April 18, 2008 at 12:52 PM. Reason : honestly, they look a whole lot better than you'd think, otherwise i wouldn't use them]
4/18/2008 12:50:34 PM
just the fact that you don't want to spend a lot of money on the shelving when you already bought an LCD and TiVo, which are both fairly expensive if I'm not mistaken.
4/18/2008 12:52:13 PM
well, yeah... they werei just don't see the point in paying $500-$600 for an entertainment center when i could have the functional equivalent for much lessi'm not cheap, but i don't like to waste money
