I don't doubt disposals really do clog sewers, I just don't care.

what the fuck is Raleigh's problem? It's like they decided about 7-8 years ago to try to be worse than Cary.

Shit, I had already set up a warehouse and front corporation to smuggle disposals in from Cary.

I think it is more about money than the environment. You guys should care what you put down your drains/disposals. We had to replace our pipes last year because of all the gunk that had built up. Granted, our plumbing was old (and terra cotta pipes), but it would back up into the bathtub the water could not make it to the sewer. Cost: $1500. Our sewer was also upgraded two years ago by the City and cost a tax payers a fortune.I think this is a good idea with all the development that is going on, especially with all the new development and condos. It will preserve what the City is spending to improve the sewer systems and prevent very expensive problems 50 years from now. I could see where food scraps could lead to problems as the pipes age and more people tap into the same sewer systems.

^ Do you have a disposal? If so, feel free to surrender it to the proper authorities.

This is what happens when you elect liberal democrats.
4/18/2008 8:14:58 AM
^ You mean Disposalcrats?
4/18/2008 8:36:30 AM
i think if the city council had thought this through at all, they would have funded a study to see the proposed impact of a disposal ban. and then if it turned out that a ban was a good idea, then make the ban part of a larger plan that might include education about composting, etc.
