RALEIGH LOL
4/13/2008 12:59:18 PM
how is buffalo not #1?and why isn't miami on there? i mean, recently that place has turned into a pile of dog shit for sports
4/13/2008 1:07:45 PM
Probably because the Heat and Marlins have won championships in the past 10 years.
4/13/2008 1:34:17 PM
right, but currently everything in the city is complete ass
4/13/2008 1:43:22 PM
^ And the owner of the Marlins wants to move to Vegas if he doesn't get a new stadium built when he can't even draw 5000 to some games.
4/13/2008 1:51:16 PM
Not so sure about Denver being on there. The Broncos won back to back Super Bowls 10 years ago, and have been pretty competitive since. Same with the Avalanche, who have qualified for the playoffs every season they've been there except last season, and won the Cup in 96 and 01.
4/13/2008 1:53:25 PM
Oakland
4/13/2008 1:54:50 PM
Atlanta would have a spot in the top ten if anyone actually gave a shit about the Hawks or Thrashers.
4/13/2008 1:59:41 PM
What about Charlotte?
4/13/2008 2:02:15 PM
New Orleans?
4/13/2008 2:02:39 PM
Why is Cleveland in the top ten? The Cavs went to the finals last year, the Browns were a game away from makng the playoffs, and the indians were a game away from the world series last year.
4/13/2008 2:27:49 PM
Buffalo should definitely be #1, followed closely by Cleveland and Philly (either one can take the #2 spot). Seriously Philly fans are depressing. They even have said that they are cursed b/c someone built a skyscraper taller than William Penn's statue atop city hall (The Curse of Billy Penn).http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curse_of_Billy_Pennhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Etno6GHgWhM
4/13/2008 2:33:36 PM
This would be a tough list to make. First of all, it's a top 10 list, and I really doubt more than 25 cities would actually even qualify as potential targets. I'd guess you'd need at least 3 of 4 of the major sports to be considered (thus since Raleigh only has hockey it couldn't even get ranked). That being said, how do you leave Chicago off the list? The Blackhawks have been abysmal since I was a little kid. The Bulls have been really bad ever since that one Jordan guy left in '98. Yes the White Sox pulled out a World Series title a few years ago but other than that they have 2 teams who are destined for loserville every year. The Bears have had a few good teams, but no Superbowl win since '85 and hey... they play in the NFC.
4/13/2008 2:39:00 PM
Atlanta can't possibly be more miserable than Cleveland.....

Oakland would be better off w/out fucking Al Davis. No coach wants to come in and restore the Raiders to glory with this control freak micro-managing everything they doCharlotte is just god awful...... sucky NBA/NFL team coupled with non-existant collegiate presenceat least they have an NFL team though.. it's the kind of city you live in where it's not unusual to root against the home team

Kansas City: Chiefs haven't won the superbowl since 1970, Royals haven't won the world series since 1985.
4/14/2008 10:13:56 AM
Raleigh is a terrible sports town, unless you are winning.
4/14/2008 12:53:46 PM
i think writers make all these lists slightly off kilter deliberately such that it creates dialogueBuffalo should def be number 1
4/14/2008 1:43:34 PM
but Buffalo has GOTTEN to Superbowls and Stanley Cups, which many cities/teams never have...plus they haven't had a franchise leave since the Braves iirc
4/14/2008 1:46:20 PM
Cleveland hasn't won a championship in ANY major sport since 1964. Fuck you John Elway and Jose Mesa

Hey mr lebowski
4/14/2008 3:09:44 PM
I think why most people say Buffalo over Atlanta is b/c a good portion of the people that live in Buffalo actually care about their sports teams, while the people in Atlanta on the other hand just seem to be apathetic to their sports teams.
4/14/2008 3:28:26 PM
Thats not how these rankings were determined though.
4/14/2008 3:32:36 PM
^^^I hate you
4/14/2008 4:55:02 PM
how is detroit not on the list
4/14/2008 4:55:56 PM
Pistons won the title in 2004. Tigers won the American League in 2006. Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup in 2002 and are usually good. Just b/c the Lions are usually terrible doesn't mean that they don't have good teams in the other 3 major sports.
4/14/2008 5:15:42 PM
You guys got that dicksnot Chris Clark talking about this shit today.I accidentally listened to him because I didn't know it was his hour this morning on 620

how in the hell do you put Denver on that list?oh and Buffalo should be number 1
4/15/2008 2:00:30 PM
Maybe its miserable for athletes? You either get shot up, murdered, or a DUI.The best case scenario is a DUI
4/15/2008 2:05:54 PM
^^Once again, please explain why you think Buffalo should be #1? I provided information showing how they did these rankings and based on their criteria, Buffalo should not be #1.
4/15/2008 2:24:59 PM
off the top of my head I'da said Philly
