if they don't have Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium correctly modeled for Navy, I will not buy it this yearand I'd like them to have a real option playbook in there...maybe with Paul Johnson going to GT they'll finally get the 8-9 play playbook in there and allow reads at the line of scrimmage (and I'd also like a billion dollars, a gold toilet, and red ryder bb gun with a compass in the stock)but as always, it sounds like they've got some quality changes in therebut i don't know how much bigger I can make the holes...already punishing fools with the triple option
4/11/2008 12:18:49 AM
here's to hoping the game plays like football...i literally quit playing after about a month because i could not get perfect sliders...either too ints (especially ridiculous ones with linebackers jumping 6ft into the air or dbs coming out of nowhere)
4/11/2008 12:27:11 AM
this last one, i played for a couple months, and just stopped playing. i was turned off the series, i dont want ncaa or madden this year for the first time since '97 i think. the recruiting for 08 just took too much time to do year in and year out...and yea i had a hard time with sliders too.

A little while after I got 08 for the 360, I found a good set of sliders on All American that I can deal with. I tried heisman but no matter how much I played with the sliders, it was still an interception fest. Finally got the hang of using the left stick to loft the ball over defenders and lead the receivers, but I still catch my self pushing up a little too much and overshooting the receiver and right to the safety.I don't the the field goal return will be a big deal since most of the kicks won't come up short enough to return. Bobble catches seems like it could be interesting but I hope that and the running game isn't overdone. The new tackling engine also looks a little flawed since all of the "1-armed" tackles looked like face masks to me, which won't really matter unless they put face mask penalty back in. Also wonder if they are going to use the excessive celebration penalty with the new interactive touchdown celebrations. It looks like it has a lot of potential but EA has been known to shit the bed before so it wouldn't be a first.

I stopped getting new editions after NCAA 06 for PS2. Have I missed anything? Any compelling reason to pick up a 360 version of 07, 08 or 09?Sometimes I want to go back and just plug in NCAA 2002.

well one of my friends is a big pussy and kicks field goals all the time, but he sucks at it. So there are a good 3 fg's a game I could try to return
4/11/2008 3:39:58 PM
i will like the co-op aspect cause if you have the ball and are running and a human is controlling two players instead of one, sometimes they'll use the old "dive and switch" method where within 5 seconds all the defenders will be laying on the ground

4/11/2008 4:47:58 PM
comparison of the player models in 08 and 09. It doesn't matter how pretty the players look if the fucking game isn't worth playing.
4/11/2008 5:11:10 PM
I agree... I am all about realism, to the point where I dont even like to play the game, just coach
4/11/2008 5:15:04 PM
good god those graphics
4/11/2008 5:19:35 PM
08 wasn't a real good game but you "interception fest" people are just mad because you can't throw stupid passes in the game. if there is a safety help over the corner you have no business throwing it anyway. if there is a wide open receiver but a lb is halfway between you then you shouldn't throw it. stuff like this is what people who never played qb might not understand so the game was a bit too harsh but essentially the average gamer has the qb iq of a jay davis. the additions to this game are the exact same thing in a 3 year cycle. the last few years have seemed more bland than ever. the dynasty mode is so messed up. rankings systems don't work at all.

I agree with many posters on here in that ive been disappointed with the last couple NCAA games. I keep telling myself I wont buy the new one this year.. but when it comes to august I always bite. Im a sucker I guess.
4/12/2008 9:38:17 AM
my friends and I play 06 on PS2 all the time. we kick onside kicks almost every time b/c they are so easy to get. Also, halfback direct will kill you unless you have some decent defensive backs. and we never go for field goals... if you are faced with 4th and long, all you have to do is hail mary a lob and the dude will catch it, even when draped with 2 defenders. I know the big thing for Madden last year was they started making shut-down corners and made passing much harder, I'm wondering if they'll bring this to NCAA.And like Howard said, it really isn't that hard to avoid getting INT's, just play it realistically. My only thing is that the CPU has never been able to stop out-routes, so basically you just find some plays that go towards the sidelines and you can hit those all day.I'll probably buy it either way. And I can't wait to see how they changed recruiting, usually my favorite part of the game.
4/12/2008 11:04:21 AM
this is a yearly buy for me. it looks like they're still working their way back to where they were with 06 before the next-gen came out. biggest for me is co-op mode. sorta was surprised when 07 and 08 didn't have it.
4/12/2008 12:21:01 PM
^throwing out routes all game = boring.having linebackers with 55 inch verticals = ridiculous
4/12/2008 12:21:45 PM
I mean you don't have to run them all game, but if you just need a sure-completion look for a play that includes at least one WR running an out-route or a RB flaring out of the backfield. NC State has a solid play-book with some good PA and runs so you can mix things up nicely. I don't really have a problem with interceptions unless I'm on the run or getting hit while throwing which is pretty realistic. I just don't throw into double-coverage or safety-coverage and I don't throw bullet passes when there is a LB standing between me and the WR. I agree the LB's jump way too high and react too fast in this game, but I mean seriously, after one or 2 times of that happening when you first get the game you kind of figure it out and adjust. And it's always fun to watch my LB's make ridiculous INT's when I'm on D, haha.

that and consistently throwing a hail mary to the tallest receiver on the team the entire game. Nano-blitzes are a bitch also.[Edited on April 12, 2008 at 10:07 PM. Reason : ]

i know it is cheap and unrealistic but i kept getting beat that way and it ticked me off. So i said, "well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em." i run option a lot, with VT and marcus vick. on 4th and long, just toss up a long hail mary. and i can get an onside kick more than 50% of the time.

In NCAA 2004/05/06 I would get Hawaii's or UAB's playbook and throw the shit out of the ball. UAB had some nice passing plays but also had the flex where I could run the triple option. You could pooch the ball on the kickoff and nail the guy as soon as he caught it making him fumble about 30% of the time. It was so easy to throw, especially with a scrambling Qb...every game I played against someone both of us would score over 40 and most of the time over 50. Since 2007 came out, you can actually play defense a little but you can still do that little corner blitz off the edge in the nickle and sack the Qb 10 times a game. The defense is a little too good in 2008 particullarly your computer players when you are playing against the cpu...so somewhere is a happy medium.[Edited on April 13, 2008 at 11:55 AM. Reason : 2]

I remember before they fixed it I could do an "onside kick" (not actually in that formation) on NCAA 06 and recover it about 90% of the time, I mean to the point where one time we tested how high I could run up the score doing it and Clemson happened to be my victim. I had it on Heisman difficulty, with 5 minute quarters, and I scored over 200 points and they had 0, I never missed an onside kick, it was ridiculous. But luckily they fixed that little glitch with the newer games. And that 200+ point game never saved because the game froze on the XBox, guess it felt sorry for Clemson. And I hope they fix the 3rd down miracle work by the CPU. I don't know how many 3rd and longs I get them in and they always get 1 yard more than they need on some crazy pass.
4/13/2008 12:01:58 PM
Ok, Ohio State has more (on paper) talent than Florida in the game, however, there's NO reason for Boeckman to be a 94.
4/13/2008 7:35:01 PM
and Tebow shouldnt be that high
4/13/2008 7:55:38 PM
Those aren't the actual ratings foolsThat's just what one site predicts they will beIts speculativeJust like if they came out with rankings on Jaybee.comJohnathan Crompton would be a 96
4/13/2008 8:34:26 PM
well thank god for that
4/13/2008 8:48:46 PM
^^ bitch, better recognize who you are talking about... I am THE voice of objectivity on here... Crompton would be a fucking 50 in my book
4/13/2008 8:57:00 PM
I hate Tebow as much as the next guy, but why wouldn't he be the best Qb in the game?
4/13/2008 9:00:06 PM
because hes not the best QB in college when it comes to measurable skills

so apparently they have online dynasty for up to 12 people in 2009. i am praying to the horse god (though some times, i doubt his existence) that they include this for the wii version since i am both 3&360-less. even if it is included for the wii, they'll no doubt use those retarded friend codes. is anyone else going to get the wii copy so i can have some online competition?

^^^^this game will probably determine if i keep my wii or sell it and get a xbox360 or ps3. with my new job i won't have so much time to play games, and this will probably be one of few that i will play year after year. if the wii version is significantly lacking in comparison to the 360/3 versions, then i'm trading systems.
