so i found out that every webcam could become a night vision cam simply by removing the IR treatment/thin glass IR filter and reassembling it. I made an IR flashlight using 3 remote controls' IR lights wired in series and positioned them in the front of one of the remote bodies...i used thin wire to extend power from the original battery compartment and reassembled the remote so it looks stock - i didnt get around to an on/off switch but i plan on ordering so super bright IR LEDs in the near future and have another go...here are some snapshots.
