With the season coming to a close we might as well kick discussion for the next season off. Incoming Wake Forest commit Al-Farouq Aminu was arrested. You all better dangle hand cuffs at him when Wake visits next season.http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/highschool/stories/2008/03/28/aminu_0329.html

How about rule changesI wouldn't be against some kind of rule to prevent 23489234 timeouts being called in the last minute of a game
3/29/2008 1:33:52 PM
^^ That's some NC State shit right there.
3/29/2008 1:40:31 PM
i'd like to see the clock stop after a made basket in the last minute or so of the 1st half instead of only in the 2nd half
3/29/2008 1:40:55 PM
3/29/2008 3:29:40 PM
^How do you all think them moving the 3 point line back a foot will affect the game? Speaking of rule changes, I'd like to see them adopt the NBA semi-circle underneath the basket for charge/block calls.
3/29/2008 7:23:25 PM
It'll kill a team like Duke and really help a team like us or UConn who are built on strong front lines... so I'm all for it.And it's about damn time. There is nothing worse than seeing a mediocre shotting power forward kill any NBA potential he has by shooting what amounts to a mid-range jumper...A foot won't be a huge deal at all for the good shooters but it will weed out the marginal shooters who should have never been gunning at all in the first place.
3/29/2008 7:27:23 PM
My way too early Top 25 predictions1. North Carolina (I think Hansbrough still returns. The key is Lawson. He could leave b/c him getting hurt may have scared him, but he may stay b/c he did get injured and that may have hurt his draft stock.)2. UCLA (I think Love returns and they still have plenty returning.)3. Kansas4. Memphis (they'll have an inflated record b/c of them playing in C-USA.)5. Stanford6. Texas7. Duke8. Louisville9. Tennessee (they should have enough returning to still be pretty good.)10. Michigan State11. Florida (they should be much improved.)12. Pitt13. Wisconsin14. Xavier/Butler/the mid-major of the year15. Georgetown16. Ohio State (like Florida they should be much improved.)17. Texas A&M18. Villanova19. Third place ACC team (whether that's Clemson, VT, UMD, or hopefully us )20. Gonzaga21. Kentucky (they should be able to continue their improvement under Gillispie)22. Third place Pac 10 team (Oregon/Arizona most likely)23. UConn24. West Virginia or Marquette25. Davidson (the loss of Richards will hurt, but they should still be good)

Yeah I don't know what the status is on the Stanford players, but if they stay they will more than likely no less than a top 15 team. I just said the Xavier/Butler/mid-major of the year as kind of an indication that their will be a mid-major that will be ranked that high. I don't know who it is though. Isn't Xavier losing two seniors off of their front line?
3/30/2008 12:26:12 PM
Yeah Xavier is losing their starting backcourt and best post player. Drake is losing some good players as well. It will be interesting to see who breaks through next year.As for possible power-conference sleepers, Syracuse loses no one and get Devendorf back, and Herb isn't losing anybody at ASU either.[Edited on March 30, 2008 at 12:57 PM. hahaha, us, 19? hahahaha
3/30/2008 1:02:42 PM
Assuming Aminu doesn't lose his scholarship over the BB gun incident, Wake should be preseason top-25. That Smith/Teague backcourt combined with the frontline of Johnson and the freshmen coming in makes them potentially dangerous.Us in the preseason top 25? Not a chance.
3/30/2008 1:17:24 PM
Not sure, but I'm thinking he meant top 25 after the 09 regular season, as he mentioned third-place teams
3/30/2008 1:23:56 PM
^^ yeah Wake could probably end up being very good next year, but those guys coming in will still be freshmen, and might turn Wake into one of the best teams in the nation until their sophmore years. I could see a lot of people putting them into their preseason Top 25.
3/30/2008 2:57:59 PM
so they are definately moving back the 3 point line next year?
3/30/2008 3:10:41 PM
^no, it was just a joke
3/30/2008 3:14:37 PM
^^ yes. it will be moved back a foot.
3/30/2008 3:19:58 PM
Some somewhat big news. Darrin Horn, WKU's coach, will be named the new South Carolina coach to replace the retiring Dave Odom. Should Clemson be scared or not. The guy did just get his team to the Sweet 16, something Oliver Purnell couldn't do with one of the best Clemson teams in recent memory.http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/10751575

In another thread there was the discussion about where NC State would rank in terms of historical rankings. I thought we'd be at least just inside the Top 10.Top 25 Most Historical Basketball Programs1. UCLA2. Kentucky3. UNC4. Indiana5. Duke6. Kansas7. Louisville8. Michigan State9. North Carolina State10. UConn11. Cincinnati12. Oklahoma State13. Florida (their first NCAA tournament appearance was in 1987, and they only have like 14 NCAA tournament appearances)14. Ohio State (they have a bunch of Final Fours even though some have been rescinded)15. Georgetown16. What is our schedule supposed to look like next year? These are the games that I know of.OOC@ Valpo (at least it's not @ ECU)@ Florida on Jan. 3ECUsupposedly @ UNO (would we play that in the Hornets arena?)@ Davidson (in the Bobcats Time Warner Cable Arena)Besides Wake and UNC who in the ACC are we supposed to play twice next year? Duke I'm almost sure is one of them.
4/8/2008 9:48:52 PM
Collison, Love, Budinger and that dude from LSU declared for the draft today.UCLA won't be near a FF team without those two.

why in the hell are we playing at valpo?[Edited on April 9, 2008 at 1:06 AM. Reason : .]

I've figured it all out:Lee Fowler hates NCSU athletics
4/9/2008 1:07:29 AM
^^^Not official on Love and Collison, guess they are denying it. Whatever. They made the FF in 05-06 and 06-07 with less talent than they will have in 08-09, even if Westbrook leaves too.

Holy crap, nice job opening at Stanford Poor Mike Montgomery.....
4/9/2008 1:31:29 PM
Hmm...I thought Stanford was a better gig right now, but I could see how a large state school like LSU could be attractive. Also you could go after pretty much anyone and not have to worry to much about academics being a problem at an SEC school like LSU. Tradition is kind of lacking at both schools. I mean it's not bad, just not great. I thought he could have held out for a more prestigious job.Stanford1 NCAA Championship (1942)2 Final Fours (1942, 1998)16 NCAA Appearances5 Conference Tournament Championships (1936, 1941, 1943, 1979, 2004)13 Conference Regular Season Championships (1920, 1921, 1923, 1936, 1937, 1938, 1941, 1942, 1963, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004)LSU4 Final Fours (1953, 1981, 1986, 2006)19 NCAA appearances1 Conference Tournament Championship (1980)9 Conference Regular Season Championships (1935, 1953, 1954, 1979, 1981, 1985, 1991, 2000, 2006)
