I went to the Village Draft House and Flying Saucer to try to get tickets this afternoon and there were just a few left at the F.S. for the noon one which I can't go to. The guy at the F.S. said the internet sold out in 2 hours. It used to be that you could wait a month and still buy tickets online. Times have changed. Have fun if you are going.

check the classifieds on here the closer it gets to the event
3/27/2008 3:36:01 PM
you can still get tickets. scalpers are selling them for $10-15 above face
3/27/2008 3:36:06 PM
Everyone was surprised. I bought the last evening ones at Harrison's yesterday, and I went 45 minutes or an hour after they went on sale. I almost waited till after work, but I'm really glad I didn't.

$40 is almost too much anyway. I won't pay over face value for any of them. It was going to be so perfect this year too because my mom was going to be down town anyway and she doesn't drink beer, but I do and so does my dad, brother inlaw, and his crowd of friends. She was going to be the taxi for the whole family!
3/27/2008 3:40:50 PM
it is a little fucked up. its because it got hyped up so much each year by people going and drinking all day for $26 or so. i guess they realized they had more than enough demand this year after how many people didn't get them last year and decided as many groups do to aim for more profit.jerks.
3/27/2008 3:44:03 PM
They went from $30 to $45 from last spring to last fall because they said it was a fund raiser for the remodeling of that Durham Theatre. They are $40 for the up coming one in April as part of a fund rasier to revitalize downtown Raleigh. It sucks that the price is going up.
3/27/2008 3:49:35 PM
well at least it sounds like theyre using the profits for something other than lining someones pockets
3/27/2008 3:51:45 PM
alright im not from raleigh so could someone explain a little bit about beerfest? what all goes on. Beerdrinking, obv, but I didnt' know if its like octoberfest in germany or what thanx.
3/27/2008 3:52:34 PM
Brewgrass in Asheville is a good beer festivalyou see, advanced white people like to drink lots of different microbrew beers and talk about how awesome they are that they know stuff about beer while sampling beers from all of the brewer's standsand then other, less advanced white people started showing up and acting like it was a keg party - which it was
3/27/2008 3:55:06 PM
cool. i'm white, but in no way advanced. more cavemany than anything
3/27/2008 3:56:12 PM
so this one guy that was a Business major but felt bad about it and started working with an NGO cause he wasn't good enough for the real world remembered this one time that his frat charged for cups and they had a rager and actually made a lot of money ($128)so now they're charging more for beer festivals
3/27/2008 3:56:55 PM
http://www.allaboutbeer.com will give you an idea of what the beerfest is like. It happens in the fall in Durham and in the spring in Raleigh. There are over 130 brewers there and over 300 different beers. It's a lot of stuff you can't find in the local store either. There is a noon-4PM and a 6-10PM session. You get a mini beer glass and can drink all you want for 4 hours non-stop if you want to. I learned my lesson after the first time I went. If you ever go, make sure you pace yourself.
3/27/2008 3:57:06 PM
i bought a dozen of them i'll be selling once it gets closer to the event and people get desperate
3/27/2008 3:57:09 PM
its only 4 hours?
3/27/2008 3:58:06 PM
Yes IT'S ONLY 4 HOURS! Trust me, it takes about one hour to get wasted. It's funny to watch the people who drink fast. When you first walk in, the tents are packed and there is no room to move, but after about an hour there are lots of people sitting on the ground looking kind of sick, or standing in extremely long lines waiting to take a piss. Then it is really easy to move around and try different beers. [Edited on March 27, 2008 at 4:03 PM. Reason : .][Edited on March 27, 2008 at 4:03 PM. Reason : .]

I bought 20 tickets and i'm down to only 4 for the evening session. $55/ticket takes the cake.
3/27/2008 4:04:25 PM

scalpers are scum
3/27/2008 5:58:51 PM

3/27/2008 6:06:49 PM

3/27/2008 6:26:26 PM
uh, ok
3/27/2008 6:27:09 PM
^^it's not like someone couldn't do all the legwork for them...
3/27/2008 6:28:30 PM
I kind of feel bad for people buying extra tickets & then selling them for a $15 dollar profit. I don't have that kind of time, & the time I do have is a hell of a lot more valuable.
3/27/2008 7:05:21 PM
it sure is difficult and time-consuming to make a thread that says 'hey i got some extra tickets PM me what you are willing to pay for them, you have to come pick them up when i'm not doing anything though'i mean, jesus, that could take upwards of a whole minute!
3/27/2008 7:11:03 PM
^ Yeah, but its just a dick move in general. But, its not like you have 12 friends or anything who would buy them from you at face and go with you, is it?
3/27/2008 7:16:54 PM
oh i'm not going at all, i don't drinki just love exploiting you drunksI NED MAH BOOZE
3/27/2008 7:18:31 PM
FYI...McGregor Draft House has tickets. Picked up 6 today.
3/27/2008 8:20:59 PM
Scalpers suck, but when you have online purchasing and no limits what do you expect.
3/27/2008 9:10:36 PM
are the tickets they're selling at the bars all sold out too?!
3/27/2008 9:31:08 PM
Yep, mcgregor is sold out
3/27/2008 9:32:43 PM
There was a limit of 10 (so it said when I purchased)
3/27/2008 10:05:39 PM
3/27/2008 10:09:01 PM
I bought all of my tickets at the bar. i didnt' want to have to pay the convenience fee for etix. There was no limit at the bar, which is why I got so many. Then again, 13 were spoken for when I bought the 20 tickets.
3/28/2008 7:35:08 AM
Damn, I got a message on facebook from an old friend telling me to buy some of these so we could go again this year.. I figured I'd wait a few days then remember to do it.. didn't think it'd sell out this fast
3/28/2008 7:45:50 AM
<--- VIP queue: not even worth it... RAWR RAWR RAWR I don't care, I like to feel important... or even better yet: Be labeled VERY important.
3/28/2008 10:15:56 AM
queue?
3/28/2008 10:24:54 AM
I got a VIP ticket
3/28/2008 10:37:36 AM
3/28/2008 1:06:31 PM
It wasn't worth it to scalp this year. Every year more and more people bought a bunch and sold them on Craigslist. Too much competition now. 2 years ago I was selling $30 tickets for $75. Now the $40 tickets will probably go for $60.
