Since this is a large part of my career and some of yours potentially, I'd like to share and hear your ideas about AI.Some say it can't be done, some say it can. (I'm talking about decision making and reactive intelligence that learns over time as humans do)I'll make the first contribution: here is a nice open source self learning system that is going to be released this summer.http://opencog.org/wiki/OpenCog_Technical_Information

wasn't there an article about self evolving robots?

In the last couple months I can remember reading about:Rensselaer Polytechnic developing a childlike AI that might just pass the turing test:http://www.eetimes.com/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=206903246Robot insects that learned how to lie for their own benefit:http://gizmodo.com/346029/scientists-invent-robots-that-lie-real-bender-closer-than-everAnd less impressive, but still significant components to the end of humanity like- Pattern recognition vastly improved:http://www.foxbusiness.com/article/m2sys-introduces-revolutionary-biometric-artificial-intelligence-technology_497968_1.htmlAnd then there's always those wacky Japanese trying to slip AI's into everything from your 12 phallus vibrating dildo ball to your extra-strong-jetting bidet:http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/mar/15/robotic-revolution/

Get ahold of InsaneMan. Last I heard, he was 95% of the way to true AI written in Java

it depends on how you define AI. if you want something as intelligent as data thats many years ahead. now if you want a program thats dumb as hell but technically adpats on it own - thats already around. the biggest limitation ATM is memory space and their own choice. point in case 2 friends of mine have AI, one gave it 10Mb of space for memory - its dumb and not terribly adaptive after it filled up its space but it still learns. The other guy gave his about 100mb of space and it decided to evolve into a boot sector virus

speaking of Turing, it made an appearance in Dilbert today. I wonder what tiny percent of the public who read Dilbert will understand what that means?

They can always just use stem cells to grow brain cells to interface with machines and make some bomb ass AI that will kill us all.

i dont see whats so hard about aiits easy to do it with software, just get some sensors and have the computer sense stuffstore the data then repeatvoila, you've got AIif i had a spare weekend i'd do it but im busy so AI will have to wait

i work with swarm technologylarge groups armed units attacking all types of targets while improving their attacking efficiency over time with experiencesome interesting stuff in this field.

That sounds cool. I guess you use a lot of multiagent and maybe even some emergent behavior type stuff? Congrats, it sounds fun.

AI is certainly a thing. The Universe allows intelligence. Worse case scenario, one day we'll just start putting biological neurons into our computers.
10/13/2018 11:01:36 AM
It's already there. It's called cognitive computing.

we will all lose our jobs to robotsthen only Neo can save usbut yeah, I would not want to consider a career in anything repetitive, focused on driving a lot, or making decisions based on data (and that's a lot)]

Prices will adjust. If it is the case that every job is better done by an AI, that means the price of everything will have dropped to nearly zero, so your pocket change can feed clothe and house you for the rest of your lifeOf course, this presumes that AI's do not achieve personhood in the eyes of the law. How soon do you guys think AI will be able to pass the Turing test with consummate ease?

Intelligent systems is also evolving. A conference on intelligent systems is held quietly today in RTI.http://www.iriweb.org/events/2018-springboard-conferenceHere's a thread for it.https://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=638192
