I read somewhere that this show was already greenlit for 5 seasons. Supposedly each season takes place 2 years after the previous one so that the final season will be in 1970. Should be interesting to see them tell a story across such a broad timeline.
7/19/2008 10:59:48 PM
I"ve got my DVR set to record this marathon. I missed the first episode but I can catch it on OD.
7/20/2008 12:44:58 PM
I just discovered this show yesterday during the S1 marathon. Can't wait till next Sunday. Is it possible to feel nostalgia for times you weren't evev alive for?

7/27/2008 9:59:34 PM
Draper's wife is smoking hot, and joan makes fat look good.
7/27/2008 11:03:41 PM
I've been watching it on TWC's On Demand channel (digital channel 540.) It looks like all of season 1 is there and it's commercial free.I liked the first three episodes that I have watched.
8/6/2008 12:35:07 PM

if you have HD go for 558 instead (hd showcase on demand). i discovered they were there in HD when i was already up to the 2nd season's episodes. does this air in HD live on any channel? or is the only way to see it in HD to wait until it shows up on demand? i'll probably watch it live regardless, but it'd be nice to have it in HD if possible.

Caught season one OnDemand a couple of weeks ago and following season 2 now. Really like this show. So I was curious about all the dollar figures they were throwing around. According to consumer price index data, $1 in 1960 is worth about $7 in 2008 dollars. Here are some numbers I remember from the shows and what they are worth today: Peggy...Salary - $35/wk ($1,820/yr) in 1960 dollars = $245/wk ($12,740/yr) in 2008 dollarsHer $5 per week raise was $35 in todays dollars. The $3 that was stolen from her locker during the party = $21 todayPete...Pete's salary - $75/wk (3900)/yr = $27,300 todayPete's apartment - $32,500 = $227,000 today. No wonder he was freaking out about buying it! Homeboy would need a subprime loan to afford it. Don...The $5,000 he gives to his brother to go away = $35,000 todayHis $40,000 offer to go to another agency = $280,000 todayThe $45,000 he negotiated to stay at Sterling Cooper = $315,000 todayKeep in mind average salary for the time was about $5,000, minimum wage was $1, Hamburger was $0.15, Cheeseburger $0.20, and a new 1960 VW Beetle was $1,675. -- Dave

ha, thanks for posting that. that's interesting.
8/10/2008 1:39:38 PM
I can't believe Sal is married!
8/13/2008 1:45:02 PM
Did any body catch it tonight? Pretty crazy stuff. The Peggy story line is turning out interesting. I was disappointed to see Don go back to cheating on his wife. But it wouldn't be drama without...drama.PS* That Mozart bit cracked me the fuck up.[Edited on August 25, 2008 at 1:01 AM. Reason : ``]
8/25/2008 12:54:20 AM
yeah i was pretty entertained over all.
8/26/2008 1:49:45 PM
^^ Especially with Jimmy's wife, whatever her name is. I hope he starts banging his new secretary or that she plays a larger role than the previous one.
8/31/2008 9:35:56 PM
they played The Decemberists during the opening scene.that was quite awesome.but also distracting.
8/31/2008 11:30:28 PM
peggy almost looked feminine at the end there
8/31/2008 11:34:36 PM
next time I get a suit, I'm going to get a 3 piece like Roger wears.
8/31/2008 11:36:33 PM
and tailored
8/31/2008 11:43:31 PM
so peggy is back to dressing the way that she had been, and a few twists this week.
9/10/2008 9:50:44 AM
Is it just me - or is this season dragging. Not much happening for an hour long drama.
9/10/2008 11:06:33 AM
i called it a soap opera the other day
9/10/2008 11:20:51 AM
^^ & ^ I hear you guys, but i'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming they are really laying some groundwork since its definitely going to last for five seasons total. Also there are still 8 episodes left this season so i think we have plenty to see.
9/10/2008 5:05:19 PM
I thought it was slow at first too, but it's picking up wonder what will happen with Don and Betty
9/10/2008 8:27:15 PM
Ratings are down - may want to step it up soon.
9/10/2008 9:34:03 PM
for some reason when don and betty were at the park with their kids, i thought something bad was going to happen. then they just leave their shit all over the ground.
9/10/2008 10:14:43 PM
I thought this series would become my favorite of all time when I first heard about it. I said, "this is MY kind of tv series."After the first seven episodes I was so BORED that I gave up. What a letdown.

I am only assuming that scene was there to express the dramatic change in the times between then and now. Wasn't it in the 80s when they started the litter free movement to protect the land?
9/11/2008 5:53:02 PM
yea i was thinking it was probably something like that.dude just chucks the can in the woods.
