I work on my shit in the street all the time. Usually use the curb as a ramp.

One of the most badass pics I've ever seen was of an engine rebuild shop in Taiwan or something. These guys were squatting in the street with about two dozen engines torn apart on the sidewalk as the sea of humanity walked by.
