That front view does very successfully mimic the G35.

The side view appears to have a little too much in common with the new Accord for my tastes, though.

Unless this new G35 is RWD, I think the answer's perfectly clear.

Sweet looking car though, can't wait to see it in the flesh tonight at the show.

I think this maxima will handle just as good as a G35 sport. Just like the FWD TL-S handles just as good. I still cant figure out why Nissan puts more features on the maxima than the G35. The maxima has some features the M35/45 dont have.

Anybody wanna buy my G35?

ok... going around a turn at the same velocity and the feeling of a good handling vehicle are two different things. I like the chassis dynamics of a rwd car.. i like the feeling of being able to load and unload corners of the car with the go pedal and not be worried about understeer.

brake in accelerate out thats how i like to drive... not "lets see just how fast we can sling it through there and hope she sticks"

hahah yeah yeah yeah... usually you can get back into the gas earlier with a rwd than a fwd is what i meant... but to compensate fwds usually enter the turn faster to get through it at nearly the same amount of time or it appears that way to me.

The TL-S doesn't 'handle just as good' as any other competing RWD car.

Just like this won't 'handle just as good' as the G35.

it is.

(i'm just giving you shit b/c i know you are talking about the maxima.)

the front is ugly, so is the rear. the interior options is where it shines. lets hope nissan doesn't screw up the interior like they've done for the past couple of years. switches and buttons galore!

[Edited on March 25, 2008 at 4:48 PM. Reason : does the maxima still use the old q45 frame/structure?]

that's what the headlights look like; they have an arrowhead shape. not clear in the 1st and 3rd pics. click the 2 links below to see the headlights in detail:

Huge album:

Some representative pics:

I say it looks very different from the G35. G35 is more bulbous and rounded, in all 3 dimensions, but the Maxima is much flatter/less rounded.

lol, yes that is what I meant.

I just got back from seeing this car at the auto show. It looked good, however I spent all of 2-3 seconds looking at it b/c it was about 15 ft from the GT-R I spent a good 10 minutes talking to the hot spokeswoman for the GT-R, she really seemed to know her stuff

holy fuck, if you have to ask, nobody is going to be able to explain it to you.

and this coming from a G35 owner...Jesus Christ.

and there is no way on God's green Earth that the TL-S handles just as good as a G35.

yea, i cant stand those headlights. i guess i can understand nissan trying to establish themselves as a different entity, but those headlight, uggh. i can imagine the updated Z will also have the "boomerang" headlights as well... nissan can keep those. now if i only had the bones for a GTR

Dude I own a G35, my girl has a TL. I know what each car is capable of. The base TL will out handle a base (non sports package) G35. It will not out handle a G35 with sports package (firmer shocks\springs, lower stance, bigger and wider rims, VLSD)

For example.
Which handles better 240sx SE or Honda Prelude SH?

TL-S to base G35 is a dipshit comparison.

TL-S always has to be compared to the G35s.

I don't believe that those track times for a second. Not a chance in hell of a 911 being slower than a TL-S

How could anyone describe that car as "hotness"?

They took every defining quality of a maxima (which wasn't a whole lot to begin with) and downplayed it to make it blend in even more with every other 4 door sedan on the road.

Ridiculous. What's wrong with a car that stands out from the crowd just a little bit?

Of course I guess if you're getting a 4 door sedan, you've pretty much so given up on standing out.

I like the front, but that rear end is the spitting image of the Toyota Camry, UGH.

Maybe I like the design of this new one b/c I never liked the previous design?

AHahahahahAHah you got owned again. FWD Acura TL-S faster around the track than the RWD G35s (notice the 6spd manual transmission moniker, which IS the sports package).

Dude, physics is failing you all over the place apparently

FYI you better because damn near every Japanese and Korean car coming is going to start having this shit. Gotta love homologous design from asia. This is why I love british and european cars. They may not be as super awesome mechanically, but ill be damned if they don't all look independent of one another.

^ when all asian cars start having it, then you can talk about copying. right now, AFAIK, the maxima is the only car with it. anyway, do you have a crystal ball.

More importantly:

1) the "boomerang" design will not look good on every car.
2) the "boomerang" design can be implemented in many ways (ratios of sizes of various parts of the boomerang), so again, they won't look all as good.

I was actually responding to the post above me, nig-ah.

However, if you want to be a faggot and beg for me to pat my dick all over your face, yet again then I'll point out that the TL-S does happen to cost nearly 6000$ more then a G35s, contains more aggressive suspension tuning (which is important, as the G35 is already pretty spongy), and the track doesn't seem particularly technical with quite a few swooping turns/straights and two hairpins at 1 and 5.

Furthermore, I wouldn't mind seeing comparison numbers on other tracks with sport versions of the same price bracket from BMW, MB, and infiniti (G37).

Of course, nobody but Honda retards bother with those comparisons because the conclusions are pretty predictable.

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison_test/sedans/35_000_sports_sedans_comparison_test/2005_acura_tl_comparison_test

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedan/112_0405_sport_sedan_comparison/2004_acura_tl.html

The base car, surprise, doesn't hold up to anything.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a hair pin turn the worst nightmare for FWD?

Acura's come very well equipped at their MSRP. I mean yeah you can pay extra for all season floor matts, but you are not going to have to pay extra to get a heated seat.

I don't really care and am by no means an entry level luxury car expert (im 22) but I do think its worth noting.
