My woman invited me Saturday to go to dinner with her aunt/uncle for Easter Sunday, and I didn't really want to go, so I told her I'd let her know. She said, "No big deal, I'll call you tomorrow and see if you want to go."

I get a call at 8 PM Sunday night....she's crying and pissed that:
A)I didn't call her
B)Didn't say yes to going to dinner.

Bitches be crazy.

legitimate right for her to be mad. You could've called her instead of being a little bitch and avoiding the situation.

You're such a slacker, b

If you say you're gonna call, just fucking do it. If you go ahead and call, that removes at least one thing for her to bitch at you about. gives you the upper hand in a dispute like this

She probably got embarrassed if her aunt/uncle invited her for the purpose of meeting you. I'd be pissed too. You could have at LEAST txted her to say you were busy .

Thanks for clarifying that Chembob.

Also, I've met and been over to her aunt/uncle's place 3/6 times that I was invited.

She was supposed to call me because she was coming in from out of town and I didn't know when we'd leave to go over to said Aunt/Uncles.

Doesn't matter if she said she'd call...you still should have called.

And its just a dinner with her Aunt and Uncle...unless you've met them before and can't stand them, you just should have gone. Pick your battles man.

Dude who cares, she's not going to break up with you

letting her know that you don't plan your life around anticipating her calls and calling early just in case shows you are no lapdog, and she covets you more

she'll get over it in a day or two

i thought .500 is pretty good....I'm meeting her halfway. I don't want to go and she wants me to go, so I go half the time...

He did say that he'd let her know. That's his problem. When you don't do things you say you will, you make life difficult for yourself and those around you. The earlier you learn this lesson as opposed to trying to be a bad ass like The Judge, the better off everyone will be.

^ You could've said, "you know, I really don't feel like it."

How hard is it to call? I mean, yeah she may have been a little extreme in her reaction, but why not just call?

Maybe I should have called her crying and upset because she didn't call ME and left me out of her plans. I should have acted like I really wanted to go and got left behind.

It would have been immature, but funny...at least for me.

Ok, Oeuvre, how about a compromise, since that's what relationships are supposed to be all about anyways, right?

I'll say: ""I know I told you I'd let you know, and I didn't and I'm sorry, but you also didn't call me and mislead me that it wasn't a big deal, so why don't we call it even and stop crying?"

remedy:

tell her you want nothing more than to go to dinner- with her and ONLY her. Take her to dinner.

and you're back at just being a typical bad boyfriend....and out of the doghouse [temporarily]

I know that's the way most people conduct their relationships, but I wholeheartedly disagree.

EDIT:^And thanks for the constructive feedback. I take her to dinner all the time, but that might be olive branch enough.

I think your compromise is fair.

This whole shit could've been avoided by you being a man and saying "No, I'd rather not eat with your aunt and uncle."

I think at this point she's more mad that I didn't go than that I didn't call, so simply calling and saying no would have helped, but not that much.

we all do and go places that aren't our 1st choice because of a loved one or sig other...either a) suck it up or b) make it clear when you aren't planning to go instead of using LAME avoidance techniques.

College games were basically over by then. Personally...I was watching NBA at the time, but not too many people out there still watch NBA games.

I'm just saying...if you ain't got shit else to do, might as well appease the woman and get a free meal out of it. Going to a Sunday Easter dinner with the significant other's relatives doesn't seem like a big deal if you're not giving up anything for it.

If that wasn't really a question she needs to just start talking straightforward to the guy about what she does and doesn't want to do.

That will never, in ten million years of evolution, ever happen though. Guess he gets to learn to play the game, lulz.

PS: Don't call her a bitch, women totally hate the shit out of that.

Jeez...by bitches, I mean women in general. I wouldn't ever call her that specifically.

That's my whole argument. I don't mind going all that much if it's important to her, but don't act like it isn't a big deal and then call crying the next day when I make a choice.

It was Easter Sunday dinner, i.e. after church and shit, which meant about 330. I was blissfully recovering from a hangover and watching March Madness instead.

Yeah...I would have had a tough time giving that up too.

You should have at least called up to check on it. And if she said she wanted you there, tried to get out of it by saying that you were hungover and "not presentable" in your opinion for dinner with the family.

You messed up just a little...but it also seems that she overreacted (when do girls not overreact). Either way, hopefully she'll realize she overreacted and you'll realize your small mistake in the future.

this is simple... if this was the last thing said:

Quote :
"She said, "No big deal, I'll call you tomorrow and see if you want to go.""

then it's her call to make, not yours. could you have called ahead of time? yes. but it isn't your job and you shouldn't be expected to if she said that she would call last.

jbrick nailed it

oh boys, have we not learned this "trick" yet? obviously you are supposed to call, even if she says she'll call you. also, when she says "no big deal" you're gonna go ahead and need to interpret that as "BIG DEAL." the only reason she even said, "no big deal, i'll call you..." is to see if you'd a) change your mind and give an answer right then or b) at least call HER tomorrow.

i know, it makes no sense. but i feel like we've been over these scenarios before. she means the opposite of what she says.

lets practice:
she says: "its fine"
what she means: "its NOT fine"

she says: "i'll call you later"
what she means: "you better call first"

she says: "no, its ok i don't want you to pay for me"
what she means: "how did i get stuck with this cheap bastard"

she says: "sure its ok, go hang out with the guys tonight"
what she means: "you CAN go, but you'll pay for it later"

khcadwal: trust me, i along with several of the fellas completely understand that it's all one big trick. we're not discussing what's going through the girl's head, just how it actually should be in a rational reality. sadly, this idea is lost almost entirely with these kinds of situations

I hate how chicks do that shit

I was dating this girl back in the day and we had plans to go out that evening

I called her once that afternoon and texted once to see what the deal was, I hear nothing from her, so I go out, I get a call at 10:30 or so and she's like, "wtf, you went out without me???"

I'm not gonna sit at home all night calling your ass, esp if I left a message and texted you
