always wondered what was up with that exit. Why is there only one way on and one way off? So i'm bringing it to the TWW investigative team. What's the story behind that exit?

probably because its such a small exit, they didnt think it was worth it to spend a lot more money building in the other direction.

I can only assume that they figured that people in this neighborhood would use that exit to go to work in N. Raleigh/RTP/whatever in the morning, and come home at night. Either they didn't want to spend the money to extend it in the other direction or they were concerned people would use that exit as a shortcut to get to Western faster, and didn't want to bring excess traffic into the neighborhood.

I take that exit all the time and have scientifically figured out that if you come off the highway onto the exit at ~55 MPH you will make it up the hill on momentum alone and will only need minimal braking as you approach the stop sign.true story.[Edited on March 22, 2008 at 11:19 AM. Reason : .]
