Clinton Aide Says Richardson’s Endorsement Is Insignificant

Quote :
"Former Democratic presidential candidate and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson finally made up his mind and endorsed Sen. Barack Obama today, but a senior advisor to Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign—which likewise spent months courting the governor's nod—dismissed its significance.

'Look, I think that everyone has their endorsers,' said senior Clinton strategist Mark Penn, adding–with a little huff–'I think New Mexico is a state that actually, we won.'

'The time that he could have been effective has long since passed,' he continued, 'I don't think it is a significant endorsement in this environment.'"

And Richardson to the Clintons: Fuck you--basically.

Richardson ceased to matter when he polled in the 1% over the course of 45 presidential elections.

Clinton is right: it would have had more effect if it had been sooner. it's kind of late now.

but it's at least 1 more Superdelgate, and who knows -- perhaps he may affect other supers who are on the fence?

as for being the O-man's veep?

i think that's pretty much impossible.

^ Yeah, I mean, Richardson's only about ten times more qualified to be president than Obama himself.

twenty from the young man in the second row. can i get thirty... thirty for this beautifully unsubstantiated and unqualified and inherently unsupportable comparison... thirty, thirty, anyone, thirty....

U.S. congressman

U.S ambassador to the United Nations

U.S. secretary of energy

New Mexico governor

Barack Obama:

Illinois state legislator

U.S. senator (first term)

Yeah, JoeSalisbury? Richardson's executive experience alone easily swats your position to the ground.

on the contrary, i suggest that Obama's experiences and worldview make him uniquely qualified to address the fundamental changes that are occurring in this country in this 21st Century.

The presidential race has never been strictly about paper qualifications.

From what I've heard from people who used to be on the Edwards campaign, Richardson was campaigning for the VP slot from day 1.

And, I'll remind you, this race isn't over. Mike Gravel is still officially on the ballot.

^ Nor is any political race? So? It doesn't change the fact that Richardson's executive experience is overwhelmingly greater than any other candidate in the race--Republican or Democrat.

it's funny how hooksaw mentioned richardson's time as a professor, but obama's time as a constitutional law professor wasn't worth mentioning

I'm failing to see how being a professor adds to your resume for President.

aside from the obvious reality that such a ticket will never happen...

this endorsement by Richardson is pretty huge in Obama's favor. The Clintons are stunned.

I was aware of Obama's time as a lecturer--the omission was simply an oversight on my part. Can you ease up a bit?

And I would like to point out that nutsuckr--who obviously fancies himself as some kind of "progressive"--is the only one to post racial slurs in this thread. Way to go, douche bag.

Even if Richardson doesn't get the VP, I'm sure he's at least picking up a position as Secretary of State or something similar.

so apparently carville has called richardson "Judas" numerous times in the past couple of days for his "betrayal" of the clintons. carville has been asked about it and is standing by what he said.
