Ok this is really dumb, i know.
so my boyfriend has had this summer job for like 3 or 4 summers right... but he has NEVER FILED his W2s for a return. so here is what we're wondering:
can he file for all the years he missed?

here's my logic- i think he can because if he OWED money to the government, they'd be sure and collect it from him regardless of the time passed.

does anyone know for sure?

He would have to file a return for each year separately, i am pretty sure.

It doesnt matter when you do it, as long as you do it. They will just give a penalty and interest to any money you owe them, but will not give you interest if they owe you money.

If he as a student.....most likely the government owes him a refund.

All he has to do is file for each year separately. You can either find old versions of turbo tax/tax cut or just go to a H&R.

Each year must be filed separately. You have until April 15h to file the 2004 return, otherwise you wont get the refund. Dont go to a H&R Block. Go to a Liberty Tax, they do most student returns for $35.

tax returns for a summer job are simple, he should be able to just do it by hand pretty easily.
