ok what's correct here

Weapons of mass destruction - initialism -> WMD
Runs batted in - initialism -> RBI
field goal - initialism -> FG
rocket propelled grenade - initialism -> RPG

the first two the subject of the initialism is already plural, where as the second two, it is singular

however, when pluarlizing the initialism, do you disregard the fact that the pluarlization has already been made?

ie, is 3 runs batted in 3 RBI or 3 RBIs.

since 3 rocket propelled gernades is 3 RPGs, which makes sense, since the -s is on the grenade(s)

Second, I find the following passage from the book Word Court concerning acronyms to be instructive:

I see no reason that initialisms should be any different.

Third, we say and write MBAs, PhDs, VCRs, and IRAs. Therefore, I posit that WMDs, RBIs, RPGs, and so on are correct. One must consider, however, issues such as house style, for example.
