i sold one of my bikes in december. i was a dumb ass and lost the bill of sale.the guy said he turned in the plate. i can't get up with aforementioned douchei just got a 'renew registration' thing from the dmv.obviously i dont own the bike anymore. and they say that the tag has not been turned in yet... what do i do? im callin the dmv right now a/b it but i thought u guys might have more experience[Edited on March 13, 2008 at 1:19 PM. k im stoppin by the dmv to file for lost plate... again.then im going to go to the county tax office and show that i turned in teh plate. dmv said that would take care of it.

tell them you sold the shit, has the guy not registered it yet? it should be obviously in his name by now which is proof you sold it

if you paid taxes on the sale - shouldn't that be a valid record that you sold it instead of the bill of sale...

Seller doesn't pay any taxes. That is up to the buyer. If you don't get a bill of sale you basically have no proof you sold it.I had a friend who sold a truck and the guy never registered it. He got a call over 2 years after he sold it because the truck had been involved in a wreck. Fortunately he pulled up the bill of sale and they went after the guy who bought it from him.

ok so i filed for 'lost tag' at the dmv. that's taken care ofthen i went to the tax and revenue office in raleigh and they said i owe no money on the vehicle.the guy has not registered the bike yet (weird). but the tax office said im in the clear and so said the dmv tooi finished all of that within an hour. man i got lucky!

why didn't you keep the tag? or is it on motorcycle you don't do that.
