Paur, Franke, Putcha, B Williams, ShearerAny advice on who to take for MA 225? Is there much variation with professors for this class?

Hrm.Paur will find a way to make it hard, Franke would be pretty good -- def learn from him. Putcha, I haven't had him before.....B Williams probably has teaching this class down to an art. As for Shearer...you should take it just so you can hear his voice...british. He'd probably be pretty good, too. Based on experience, I'd go with either Williams or Shearer just to see what it would be like. Avoid Paur.

do not take it with Paur. i took it with her and it was hard as hell. dropped it and took it next semester with a grad student and it was MUCH easier and i still feel that i learned as much

IMHO, Dr. Franke may be the best classroom teacher in the MA department. Dr. Shearer would be my second choice.

Paur will kill you, seriously kill you.I don't like Williams, she's got her Ph.D. but she's not that smart in mathematics.Putcha doesn't give homework.I would take Shearer or Franke.

I had it with Putcha. It was very fun and not too much work. I'd guess all the choices are good but if you take Paur you need to devote more time to the class than the others. I'd expect Putcha will be the easiest while Williams will be the most predictable with tests and such so a little more work but less guesswork, she would reward you for studying, same with Putcha but probably less guidance. On the other hand Franke, Shearer and Paur will probably challenge you more somewhere in the course.
