http://www.hbo.com/films/johnadams/Looks really good. First episode this Sunday March 16th. Band of Brothers was absolutely amazing (own it on DVD) and I hope this miniseries is just as good.[Edited on March 11, 2008 at 7:42 PM. Reason : fixed]

they were filmin this when i was at colonial williamsburg last year...the late 1700s/early 1800s is my favorite time period in history so i have no doubt it'll be interesting to me. i hope it has the same high production value as band of brothers.
3/11/2008 7:19:17 PM
yeah...I love this period in history. I have high hopes for this miniseries based on the quality of Band of Brothers and that Paul Giamatti plays John Adams.

BTTTI thoroughly enjoyed the first two parts last night. What did everyone else think?
3/17/2008 6:55:35 AM
son of a, i missed it, need to set the dvr....
3/17/2008 9:55:36 AM
The book it was based on (David McCullough's bio of Adams) was excellent. I don't have HBO but I may have to check this out on DVD if the series holds up as good...
3/17/2008 10:14:38 AM
I refuse to believe that he can be better represented than how he was in 1776.
3/17/2008 10:16:36 AM
I thought it was excellent! The acting was superb and I was really drawn into the story. I didn't want it to end and would have probably watched the series in its entirety had they shown it last night.
3/17/2008 11:07:48 AM
they showing repeats on hbo?
3/17/2008 11:21:10 AM
I too thought it was well done. The problem with HBO series is they tend to jump ahead YEARS without warning, so it takes awhile to catch the clues. Last night, she wasnt preg, then preg, then a 3 year old.Guitarguy, it will be on hbo indemand, and its free if you have it.
3/17/2008 11:23:38 AM
DVRed it last night, probably watch it tonight or tomorrow night.
3/17/2008 12:34:05 PM
I liked it. I'm turning into quite the Paul Giamatti fanboy. Also, did anyone else spot
3/17/2008 12:40:25 PM
^yeah i totally caught the Crispus Attucks plug. I even got on chit chat last night thinking someone would have made a thread about it. I lolled inside. This series will be jumping ahead, I believe covering almost 50 years during the 7 parts. I definitely think paul giamatti is excellent. I think that this character will show a lot of his range as an actor b/c I know Adams loses a lot of popularity throughout his political career and we may see him become a character we love, hate, then love all over again before its all said and done.Oh, and was I the only one who though Rutledge was a little bitch?
3/17/2008 1:49:26 PM
this thread reminded me to go to the post office.
3/17/2008 2:34:24 PM
just watched the first part of this. it's enjoyable.
3/17/2008 7:47:29 PM
watched the first two parts last night and thought it was very, very good. Ruttledge was a little bitch
3/17/2008 8:50:58 PM
just finished watching the first 2 episodesvery very well doneI didn't realize that John Adams did so much for the country. I learned a lot about people like George Washington, Paul Revere, Thomas Jefferson, etc. in high school history but I don't think enough was said about John Adams.
3/17/2008 9:59:52 PM
just watched the second part. good stuff.i loved that when north carolina voted, it was always off camera.
3/17/2008 10:40:04 PM
^ hahaha yeah i noticed that too. evidentally our role in the continental congress was not tv worthy
3/17/2008 10:46:37 PM
keep an eye out for me in the chaos scene of the boston massacre
3/17/2008 10:49:14 PM
holy jesus it must have been awful to get tarred and feathered.
3/18/2008 3:22:42 AM
HBO proves again that its subscription is worth every penny. great show.
3/18/2008 8:54:29 AM
3/18/2008 9:33:09 AM
3/18/2008 9:41:34 AM
^^oh i agree, they did an excellent representation of him. And hindsight is definitely 20/20, i could definitely agree with his stance for the south during that period
3/18/2008 9:45:24 AM
just wanted to give this thread a free bump and say that the first two parts wereQUALITYbest damn series, imo, since Band of Brothers
3/18/2008 11:25:58 PM
just saw part 1.... amazingit motivated me to finish my personal statement for law school
3/20/2008 3:52:16 PM
watch part 2it's even better
3/20/2008 5:01:53 PM
fantastic series, can't wait for the next!
3/21/2008 12:43:17 PM
3/21/2008 7:17:45 PM
any idea when they'll show part 1 again?
3/21/2008 7:27:11 PM
when you man up and get ON DEMAND
3/21/2008 7:40:30 PM
so...when my parents man up?i'm just interested in the boston massacre scene
3/21/2008 8:14:11 PM
^ there really wasn't a lot to it. John Adams arrives on the scene after it happens and just looks at some of the wounded/dead. They don't actually show it happening
3/21/2008 8:32:08 PM
yeah, i just want to see if i get screen time i was an extra that ran around the city after they shot the citizenshuh....i remember that being filmed, someone was cradling a dead guy and shouting at the soldierssweet[Edited on March 21, 2008 at 8:38 PM. Reason : awesome]
3/21/2008 8:37:03 PM
if you have the hbo channels, you should have on demand.part 3 on sunday!
3/21/2008 8:47:03 PM
do you have to pay for ondemand? like an additional charge, it sounds like some kind of pay per view thing
3/21/2008 8:54:33 PM
It's an additional charge but it's not much. Maybe $15/month or so. I have DVR so to me it's not worth it. I still have both episodes recorded and set to record the rest of the series. It works the same way as HBO on Demand except I can use it for every channel.
3/21/2008 9:11:34 PM
its $6.95 a month.
3/21/2008 9:17:07 PM
if you want to know when the next airing on hbo is...one place i like to visit ishttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472027/
3/21/2008 10:06:23 PM
3/21/2008 10:07:23 PM
time warner maine gives me free HBO on demand with HBO subscription. I think it probably depends on provider and location
3/21/2008 11:27:32 PM
3/23/2008 12:00:46 AM
^a kid in my history class began to make an argument for slavery the other day, and then he just stopped, turned red and got quiet, haha
3/23/2008 1:40:23 AM
^^no, you just misunderstood me
3/23/2008 4:17:33 PM
well perhaps you should better explain yourselfyou stated that you could understand his argument, then you quoted that his argument was with people trying to get rid of slaverywhat am i missing?
3/23/2008 4:35:18 PM
can't wait until tonight
3/23/2008 4:43:08 PM
i only quoted the summary of his notable achievements, not an arguement that i agreed with. what i mean that i could agree with him on was this
