I'm surprised Danny Green didn't get at least HMHe had some big games this yearAlso, JJ and AC work as initial-names, but AD doesn'tReminds me of FP Santangelo

Kyle Singler, James Johnson, and JJ Hickson were all unanimous selections to the All-Freshman team. I'm guessing though that Singler wins ROY over Hickson, b/c Hickson's numbers have trended down toward the end of the season. Still though he has done some pretty amazing stuff in his first season here. IIRC he lead the ACC in FG%, lead the freshmen in scoring and rebounding, and was only behind Hansbrough in the number of times he went to the free throw line. He also set the freshman single game rebounding record with something like 23 rebounds against Clemson.
3/11/2008 9:28:11 AM
but he doesnt play for UNC or Duke
3/11/2008 9:33:09 AM
is Ginyard a better defender than Danny Green?also gg Hickson...we might've had a shitty season but we've got a silver lining, even if he declares for the draft which he shouldnt cause he needs to work on his hands and his lateral movement when playing man-to-man against a quicker player
3/11/2008 9:38:25 AM
wow, kyle singler is third team all-acc. i was about to point how so-and-so should've been on there instead of him, but really, this is just a weak year for talent in the ACC.
3/11/2008 9:41:32 AM
GG JJ. Just shows how dominate you could be if you just improve on a few things. And having a better supporting cast would help. Which is why you should stay all 4 years.
3/11/2008 11:47:58 AM
I still think JJ's unanimous selection to the All-Freshman squad is based on his pre-season hype. He boosted his numbers against all of those crappy non-conference teams we played, but when it came time to take on the big boys in conference, he was nowhere to be found (with the exception of his rebounding performance against Clemson).

^^ you forgot the @ FSU game in which he was named Rookie of the Week. he played well in that game too.

^^^ Notice I said the big boys of the conference. I don't really think Florida State fits that description, either in terms of their inside presence or their stature in the conference.[Edited on March 11, 2008 at 1:47 PM. Reason : overrated]
3/11/2008 1:46:27 PM
i'm surprised danny green, gerald henderson, deon thompson, or jon scheyer didn't get honorable mention over someone like washington or lawson (who didn't even play in 6/7 games)and Hansbrough for honorable mention for all-defensive team? dude only has 10 blocks this season, pretty shitty for a big guy[Edited on March 11, 2008 at 1:55 PM. Reason : .]
3/11/2008 1:53:52 PM
Rice>>>>>HansbroughAnd LOL at Hansbrough being on any defensive team.....
3/11/2008 1:58:02 PM
^^^ sorry when I originally read it I didn't see the big boys part and somehow I think I interpreted it as saying that once we got into conference play he sucked it up.
3/11/2008 2:23:51 PM
^^ Yeah. If they had put Hansborough up there, they would have to put the refs calling charges on his opponents up there too.
3/11/2008 4:05:52 PM
wow. we're terrible. only 1 freshman honor and that's it? boo.
3/11/2008 8:51:07 PM
jeff teague should be rookie of the year. dude is unbelievable and he's gonna get the credit he deserves if he stays a year or two more
3/11/2008 9:12:10 PM
^ he definitely deserves it. dude was a MAN late in the season.
3/11/2008 9:16:23 PM
yeah man its a shame he probably wont. im not a wake fan by any means but with him and ish smith, wake is gonna be dirty as hell
3/11/2008 9:17:57 PM
and those three 5* dudes they got coming in...
3/11/2008 9:21:15 PM
i didnt even think about that. wow. dino seems like a decent coach too
3/11/2008 9:22:51 PM
3/11/2008 9:26:52 PM
hickson doesn't deserve ROY.
3/11/2008 9:27:20 PM
3/11/2008 9:34:18 PM
yeah this is nothing like last year (aka highway robbery)
3/11/2008 11:43:33 PM
Hickson in 3rd for ROY.But why?Out of curiousity, why didn't JJ Hickson get more FOY votes, besides the fact that he's on an awful team?He lead ACC freshmen in scoring, rebounding, blocks, FG %, Points per second, etc. and actually played less than Singler or Johnson. He set the ACC freshman single game rebounding record with 23...I love watching Singler play, and he's very talented and played very well this year, but why was he an automatic lock for ROY over Johnson and especially Hickson?
3/12/2008 1:08:51 PM
James Johnson led freshmen in scoring and averaged 0.2 fewer blocks per game than Hickson. He was also fifth in FG% and virtually tied with Hickson in RPG. And Singler plays for Duke.[Edited on March 12, 2008 at 1:15 PM. Reason : ]
3/12/2008 1:10:52 PM
So it looks like he pulled away at the end. Still Hickson scored more than Singler...and was more efficient.
3/12/2008 1:12:33 PM
3/12/2008 1:54:13 PM
wow, kyle singler greg paulus is third team all-acc.
