Nothing wrong with that. Better to have them focus on issues like this. I suppose that they're using the whole "Stewards of the Earth" argument.

"Thou shall not pollute the Earth."Well, I guess we have to give up going to the bathroom. Will God help us hold it in?

I remember this stupid slutty bitch named ELISE who once told me for her birthday her mom was going to get her "fixed."When I asked her what that meant, she said she is pregnent and her mom was goin to pay for her abortion.I've always been against abortion when used as a form of birth control.

Dude! Reality matches Fiction...There was this book years and years ago, written by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle, called Inferno. It was a sci-fi book that was kind of an update on Dante's Inferno, and it tackled all the new ways that humans had figured out to sin. Polluting had it's own special section. So, I mean, how does this work, in the whole inner workings of Hell? Since the Vatican declared it, does the new section pop up in Hell? Has it been there all along, and we're just now finding out about it? If there's a new section, do people get moved around for polluting? Like, all those Native Americans that drove buffalo off of cliffs get moved from the "Worshipping non-Christian Gods" section of Hell to the brand-new "Fucking up the Earth" section?Christians, gimme the down-low on this!

Native American's hunted woolly mammoths and other species to extinction. Sure, modern Americans have hunted our own species to extinction, but why should we be punished and not Native Americans?
3/10/2008 12:48:32 PM
I'd say woolly mammoths went extinct mostly because of the changing environment and not so much due to human impact.
3/10/2008 12:58:29 PM
God and global warmingProve either exists
3/10/2008 3:33:50 PM
3/10/2008 3:35:44 PM
globally warming has been proven.
3/10/2008 3:35:47 PM
if you say so...well then thats all the proof i need!

^ the native Americans are well known for sustainable living practices. They had to sacrifice technological development to do it though, so there are tradeoffs.

You're never going to convince anyone of us who is used to automobiles, the internet, cellphones, etc to go back to some kind of way of living off the land with no electricity, no HVAC, killing your own food, etc]
3/10/2008 3:43:55 PM
It was certainly very low impact, but to say that there was no wastefulness is rather myopic.
3/10/2008 3:45:19 PM
3/10/2008 3:47:11 PM
i'm not denying that the average global temperature has increased by a couple degrees over the last centurywhat that has to do with "global warming" is anybody's guess
3/10/2008 3:48:36 PM
That would be the definition of global warming.
3/10/2008 5:35:17 PM
Sorry, I forgot, I made a crack about the shortcomings of a racial group that wasn't white. Of course that was going to derail this whole thing.
3/10/2008 6:02:26 PM
Last year, the Catholic church spent $526 million in settling sex-abuse cases. That would've bought a lot of carbon credits.
3/10/2008 8:13:38 PM
maybe global warming is a natural phenomenon caused by God. this is not the first time the earth's climate has changed and believe it or not, it was changing before man existed.

Its not official till President Bush gets the call.

^^uh, species are going extinct at an alarming rate.and just because it hasn't affected the animals you learned about in preschool doesn't mean it isn't happening, as you are trying to imply.[Edited on March 11, 2008 at 10:33 AM. Reason : ]
3/11/2008 10:33:02 AM
and just because global mean temp goes up a degree and a half over the last 100 years doesn't mean your doom and gloom scenario of "mass extinctions happen" is coming to fruition...its a predictionbesides, 99% of species that ever lived on earth are already extinct...why must you feel the need to use more scare tactics?and for all the anthropogenic global warming proponents....congrats...you have Southern Baptist leaders on your side...the same people you love to hate and make fun of because of their devout overboard christianity...yeah THEY are on your side...great way to lend some credibility to climate change!]
3/11/2008 10:40:42 AM
there is not one logical statement in that response.
3/11/2008 10:45:37 AM
every single thing i said was true and logicalwhy are you so full of shit? why are you lying and exaggerating about extinctions in blanket statements without elaborating on shit? you got some financial interest or just trolling?]

The romans discovered that engineering possibilities for the arch. Their religion, turns out, was wrong. Therefore, everything made from arches should collapse.
3/11/2008 11:10:14 AM
thanks for addressing my points intelligently and specifying what supposed mass extinction events are currently occuring, you clearly know what you're talking abouti figured you'd just throw out a logical fallacy and move on]
3/11/2008 11:17:56 AM
Mass extinctions don't occur over night. It's a proven fact that species are dying off faster now than they have before humans had a large impact on the planet. A fact you choose to ignore...
3/11/2008 11:21:08 AM
a fact both of you geniuses conveniently choose not to link...EDIT:wait i thought you were saying its simply a fact that mass extinctions are occuring...then i read your post more clearly"It's a proven fact that species are dying off faster now than they have before humans had a large impact on the planet"thats complete and utter bullshit...wow you just talk out of your ass when it sounds good dont youThe K/T extinction event 70 million years ago for example killed off half the current species on Earth...without any human impact...and you want to tell me its a "proven fact" that species are dying off faster NOW than ever before humans had an impact? you're completely full of shit[Edited on March 11, 2008 at 11:27 AM. 3/11/2008 11:23:15 AM
There is virtual unanimity among scientists that we have entered a period of mass extinction not seen since the age of the dinosaurs
3/11/2008 11:49:01 AM
3/11/2008 11:54:57 AM
first of all, you said there was a current mass extinction bigger than any other mass extinction before humans which is not trueand secondly, the virtual unanimity is a PREDICTION...the PREDICTION is that many species could die over the next 100 years if warming continues...if you could simply produce some type of data or evidence that shows this current mass extinction you'd have a lot better leg to stand oniirc, a couple hundred species have become extinct over the last couple hundred years, and most of those were due to human destruction of habitat, ie deforestation, filling in wetlands, etc...a couple hundred of the tens of thousands of species on the planet...but not only have conservation efforts been greatly increased over the last 40 years, these extinctions are due to direct human destruction of habitat...most are not due to having too much CO2 in their atmosphere to breathe, or having temperatures too hot for them to surviveso like i said, this doomsday mass extinction you guys keep referring to is a prediction of a worst case scenario in the future]

I think the general trend of extinction due to human activities is what everyone but you is looking at.
3/11/2008 1:37:25 PM
oh really? i thought it was due to climate change
