my DVD player all of a sudden quit working. no power, no nothing.i opened it up and looked around the powersupply board, and saw a swollen electrolytic capacitor, looked like it had popped internally.pulled it out, found it was a 10V 1000uF cap, wtf? this is a 12VDC power supply, why would they put a 10V cap in there?replaced it with a spare 35V cap i had (little too large, it just barely fit), plugged it in and works like new.i'm badass.just thought I'd let y'all know.

im suspecting that they do shit like that, because that's a perfect way to cause a device to fail after a couple years of slight but continuous overvoltage.then they can either charge you $30-50 for the non-warranty repair of a 75 cent cap, or make you buy a new device. "disposable electronics", indeed:grr:
