I need a good Laptop Cooling Pad, must be somewhat portable and it doesnt have to be the cheapest cause my company will be picking up the tab on this one

any good experiences?

i have this one, that i got FREE AR, and i've tested my laptop with and without it and it didn't do jack, at most 1'C difference which is well within the range of +/- error of the wind blowing through the window

Antec does an awesome job.. I can see a diff of 10 deg!! My laptop used to idle in the 30s now its idling around the 20s..

If ur price conscious go for targus.. if u want real cooling and dont mind spending a few extra bux get antec or zallman..

yeah, I got bored and bought one of those targus cooling pads from Wal-Mart. Now I can actually touch the bottom of the laptop without burning my hand. Also noticed that my main fan doesn't run quite as much. For $25 it was definitely a good investment.

I just got a targus pa248 and it seems to work very well. My laptop hasn't locked up since I've started using it and the bottom of the laptop is much cooler.

It's really light but feels sturdy and I like that the air blows out of the back of the pad.


Its a bit small for the laptop but its not an issue. Overall I am happy with it.

I'm looking for a cooling pad that will also act as a USB Hub...

I seen one at best buy but wasn't too impressed by the quality, any inputs?

targus makes one that has like 4 usb ports on it but it's $60. Think it uses an ac adapter also.

hmm never thought about having one with an extra USB port or 2.... I only have one USB port on this POS laptop and I have to use it for the cooling pad. That's ok though.. Got a brand new laptop on the way and it has several USB ports on it.

i've got the vantec lapcool3... it's not everything i could wish for in a coolpad and more (didn't feel like paying for the zalman) but it works well, and keeps my laptop cool enough that i can comfortably rest my palms on it

so the major issue i've had with these things is longevity. i've had the targus pa248U, and the kinamax president http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834987002. the fans on the targus just crapped out after a few months, and while the kinamax has pretty decent fans, the power wires are exposed and fragile around the power button. anyone have a pad that's lasted longer than 3 or 4 months? i'm on #3 and this shit's getting old.

I worked on this guys laptop at work the other day and it had a built in cooling fan, well 2 actually. It made the laptop thicker but it's a gaming laptop. Looked pretty sweet. It's a Sager.

the one that i posted a pic of has been running perfectly since AUGUST 2006 (18 months).

i use my laptop on average 4-5 hours a day.
