-let's say someone calls the police and reports a crime and claims you committed it.

-and then let's say the fbi raids your house while you are home and then when they bring you in for questioning and after a lengthy search, they find documents and proof that you in fact did not commit the crime.

-lastly, the fbi releases you and apologizes for the confusion.



now: what are my options for retaliation? let's also assume this somebody who accused you did so knowing the entire time they were wrong.

what are my options.....

perjery is generally construed as lying under oath

which you are not if you are calling the cops

as someone mentioned, youre more likely to have success with "filing a false police report" or "defrauding a government agency" or the like

talk to a lawyer--it's free and they can tell you what you can or can not do/accomplish

would be the correct answer.

You could sue for emotional distress among other things. But the claim has to be pretty frivilous. If the person who called the cops had a good reason to believe you committed the crime they said you committed...then you don't have any recourse.
