Ive driven there several times and have probably taken a different route every time. Just wondering if anyone had ideas on the fastest route and best route as far as lanes and speed limit goes.

^you didn't feel like telling him the # of the route to get on? lol220. Then you take that to I-81 (briefly) then you take HWYs 219, 39, and 66.

Here is the exact way.220-N to I-81 in Roanoke. Exit on to 220-N after Roanoke all the way to I-64 West. Take that until a few miles past the WV border and get off WV-92. Take WV-92 to WV-39. Take WV-39 to US-219. Boom you're there.[Edited on March 7, 2008 at 2:16 PM. Reason : i think 220-N turns in to I-581 in Roanoke but it connects with I-81 regardless]

looks like you can take 219 or 93 from I-64i seem to remember taking 311 back from snowshoe in the snow, and it taking 10 hoursmany thanks

If you take 64 all the way to 219 it takes longer... 219 is curvy like crazy and will take twice as long as 92 to 39 (these are straight for the most part).

if you enjoy driving and the weather's good I recommend 219, its quite the hoot! Thanks for correcting me Bryan, its been a while and I didn't check a map.

for a route that is about 5½ hrs, take US 64 east to rocky mount, get on I-95 north to I-64 West (depending on time of day, get on 288 north to go around richmond, or just go through richmond if traffic is minimal)then stay on i-64 west till staunton or so, and im not sure where after that
