Anyone ever bought a used laptop online? I am considering Dell's website, but I didn't know if maybe someone else had better luck elsewhere. Thanks.

I would only buy from a company that has refurbished ones and not from individuals like on ebay or craigslist. Too much money to invest without a guarantee.[Edited on February 28, 2008 at 1:48 AM. Reason : Wouldn't trust local people either. Have had problems with them too.]

yeah the only way to do it is ensure theres at lest a 30-day warranty.i wouldn't spend $300 for something that can break tomorrow with no recourse. but like i said, theres no reason to buy used when the new ones are so cheap...or refurbs from Dell, those are pretty safe now.

i've bought 2 dell refurb laptops and they lasted just as long as their normal laptops. And i'm a fan of Apple refubs also, if you want to try that. They have some really good deals now that they announced an upgrade last week. macbooks down to $850 and macbook pros down to $1250 - http://tinyurl.com/2484e7

I've got a macbook pro refurb--it was more than $1250 two months ago but not much more.. I couldn't find a scratch on it.. good as new to me, just cheaper.

Thanks for all the replies. I did go with the Dell. It's for my little brother so I'll have to see how it's working out in a few months.
