I'm looking to buy a pair of nice boots sometime in the next week. I've never owned a pair before (other than hiking boots), so I don't really know what I should be looking for in terms of fit, comfort, etc.In terms of style, I have been browsing on Zappos for an hour or so, and have found a couple of pair that I like the looks of, and would consider wearing. The purpose of the boot will simply be for looks, as I probably won't be riding horses, motorcycles, etc. Will mostly be worn with jeans, but maybe sometimes with a pair of khaki pants for a casual day at the office. My price range is anywhere between $100 and $250. One of the more popular brands of boots is Frye, and both of these models have been getting extremely high remarks. What is important in purchasing a boot? In terms of fit, how snug should your feet be? How long is the typical break-in period?Frye Brando EngineerFrye Harness 12R

wouldnt the buckles on the top of the 1st cause a problem with the pants?i like the 2nd ones aesthetically more, but cant offer any real advice as to wear/use[Edited on February 24, 2008 at 7:12 PM. Reason : and for me, squared toe >>>>>> pointed]]
2/24/2008 7:12:17 PM
I agree on square toe >>>>>>>>> pointed but that's about all the advice I can give. I like something about the first one better than the second except the pointed toe
2/24/2008 7:49:37 PM
the second look much more badassi sure hope you have a full length duster coat to go with those.
2/24/2008 7:51:02 PM
those are pretty gay dude. i dont think boot wearing ppl wear those]]
2/24/2008 7:51:41 PM
Yea, I either like the rounded (pair 1) or square (pair 2) toed look. I'm not a huge fan of the pointed toe at all.Over a long time the buckles might start to show some wear through the side of the pants, but I can't really see it being that big of a deal. I mean, I don't really keep my pants for years on end. The first pair looks a little bit dressier than the second, which might fare better with getting away wearing them at the office.I also wonder how difficult the taller, second pair would be to get on and off ]
2/24/2008 7:51:58 PM
I wore justins like that for years. they might be a little tight across the top of your foot when you buy them, they will strech out and feel great. The toe room and width should fit like a regular shoe. Blundstone from Australia has that style of boot with a polyurethane sole, they are light and feel great, Manmur has them if you are in Ral. you should be able to grab the back seam and pull them on without alot of work and be able to take them off with the toe of the other boot. 8" was the height I wore, taller than that and its extra weight and might rub your calf. Frye is an old brand, Chippewa is made in USA, Rocky makes one, Justin makes several. If you walk the soles off you can have them resoled, I had two sets of soles and one set of heels put on mine before the rest of the boot failed.

when you get frye boots you have to break them in. If you don't they will kill your feet. If you are going to wear thicker socks be careful on the size of the boot you'll buy.

RedWings are good but it take a long ass time to break them in.
2/24/2008 9:01:20 PM
I have a pair for Frye, 2 pars of redwings, and a coupel other brands...the redwings are the best, followed by the frye, but both required a good break in before they were really comfy but I can walk farther in my steel toes redwings that weigh a ton than my good new balence sneakers. and the redwings will be on their 4th sole soon

I've had very good results from Rocky, Wolverine, and Georgia boots. I'm always walking through water, mud, manure, fertilizer, etc... and these brands have served me well.

I prefer utility in boots over aestheticsI have hiking boots and steel toe work bootsI think, regardless of the boots you choose, you should also get your conceal and carry permit and start carrying a gunthat way the new shoes AND the new gun will give you a sense of power that you'll project into the worldpeople will notice your new control over the world at work and you'll get a promotionwith that said, don't get the high boots
2/24/2008 11:56:05 PM
say man-this lady at fashion bug told me uggs was cooler than a fan this season.
2/25/2008 12:01:38 AM
wore these hawt kix at my last job interview for assistant manager at golden corral.and when them shits peeped my dudz, shit got REAL.
2/25/2008 12:06:31 AM
I like the second ones, but if you have never worn boots before, the lower the top the better off you will be. You're gonna hate high boots and avoid wearing them. Unless you have shrimpy legs... you should try them on first.
2/25/2008 12:07:09 AM
andy dick whittled this one for me from a larger boot of the same design. Got me through the pet shop boys concert in style.even came with this optional attachment:[Edited on February 25, 2008 at 12:09 AM. Reason : .]

since you want them for looks, you're probabably gonna want some socks to go with that outfit. Personally, i like mine that betsy ross knitted for me right before she retired in 1827. I still occasionally wear them to social events such as keith urban concerts and kenny chesney gay orgies.
