I just bought a hermit crab the other day. I love hermit crabs and had several when I was younger. I know I can't be the only person on here with a pet hermit crab. So, post pics of your hermies on here and any information that might be valuable to other hermit crab owners.

i had a hermit crab named "Hermie" and he lived for 2 years...
died on july 4th...i think it was back in 94-95

I would have named him Rufus, cause he has no home of his own and would be forced into crab v. crab "bum fights" for a shell.

i hate selling these things... so many of them meet an early demise. properly cared for they live a long ass time (10-30 years) but most don't last 6 months

but anyway, i think those glass shells are the best fuckin idea ever, but i wonder how the light effects them, as in do hermit crabs need dark refuge?

If you clean their cage properly, they dont really stink. Anything is going to stink if you don't keep it clean...even fish. If you provide them with enough water (not deep enough to drown them) they will bathe themselves. Also, you have to scoop out the cage every so often and change the sand or whatever you have on the floor of the habitat at least once a month. I have never smelled mine.

I had hermits back in middle school. My brother took care of them while I went out of the country and they died, so did my hamster.
